ran my first race saturday, with my 98 Z24 2.4 at our 1/4 mile high bank dirt track. won the heat race and spun a rod bearing 4 laps into the main. is there a lack of oiling going on due to the severe turn? would baffles work in the oil pan? I really don't want to change to a different engine due to the fact I outran the prelude and probes until it started knocking. thanks for any input.
Yea turning at high RPM on a 2.4 is a no no lol, there is a lot to learn about the LD9 and it's oiling. That is why we all mod the 2.4 block to accept the 2.3 oiling system.

yea I spent my hole lunch hour yesterday looking for the 2.3 oil pump swap info and only got partial instructions, I can do this swap myself if I had the pic.s and info. I have until the 27th to get here ready for the next race, and then its 3 weekends straight. I did find a 90 2.3 quad 4 at the salvage yard with the vin# D, would this be a HO ? and could I swap it into my car and run it with the computer?
Whats your email address? I could shoot over the pictures.

got em, doesn't look to difficult, thank
Yeah you need the 2.3 oil pump swap. Look at his pictures and it is no problem. i just did it this past winter. i race 1/4 dirt with mine. I also have a prelude. What kind did you out run? You know if it was a 98 and newer or a older one?
I'm not sure the year, maybe early 90's, but it did have the Vetch engine. Did you put any baffles in the oil pan or just doing the pump swap sufficient?
see why i run ln2's no oil problem
Deepened pan and did the pump swap. Holds about 7 qts oil so far so good
well I got the 2.3 oil pump swap finished up in my 2.4, used the stock oil pan and modified the pickup, got the engine back in the car and running friday night, just in time to go race saturday, also installed a manuel oil pressure guage, showed 70-75 psi at idle cold, dropped to about 25-30 when warmed up, car was fast, lead 12 of the 15 laps until I got caught in traffic and got passed by one lumina, any way after the race I noticed oil all over the top of the engine and under the hood, checked the oil guage line and it was good, only thing I can think is that I made my own CAI and did not hook up the hose from the crank case, could this be were the oil came from or do the cam toweres tend to leak under preasure.? thanks
My guess is it maybe came from the line off of the PCV baffle if you didn't hook it back up to the intake. Is it venting to the engine bay?

I ran mine to a baffle and then to a can and it poured oil out. Put back factory except line to breather I ran to a catch can. Works well.
lost rod bearings again, I want to thank everyone who helped with the info on these cars, car was crazy fast, but it has become a money pit, so I sold it and bought a nova, moving up a class to pure stock. again thanks everyone.
Two races in already? We are just gearing up for track practice. Opener isnt until the 30th.
