RPMs lagging on holeshot?
Thursday, October 09, 2008 6:07 AM
Hey guys, my 99 sunny is acting weird on launch. If I launch in gear, than I'm fine; tires spin, TC kicks in, I blow by whoever I'm racing =P

However, If I try to get the R's up then shift in, the engine sounds like it's hitting a very low rev limiter around 2 1/2K. I can have the pedal on the floor, and the engine will still rev down. Is this a programming issue? It only occurs occaisonaly when I have TC on, but still occurs.

Any help is appriciated, brand new to these cars!

There's a thin line to be crossed, when the upgrades to your vehicle increase your chance to get tickets by an amount exponential enough to stop worrying and build the fastest, loudest car you can.

what you are trying to do is called "neutral dropping". its not good for the tranny. yes its a programming issue, because GM designed it so idiots would have a harder time destroying the transmission.

STOP IT

The problem is you have to over ride it by revving it to 6k then drop it in gear. Learn to drive dude

Here is some more of his comments from the nitrous forum,giving his opinion about running nitrous,lol

"Best boost for your money. Till you cook your pistons, pit your cylinders, blow your valves, fry your gaskets, and pop the welds on your intake manifold. Then you'll be looking at $1500 and alot of junk yard shopping to find an ecotec. Woooo! Lots of fun to spray right?!??!
Roflobsters."

Here is his future mod list:* In order to be completed:
* Muffler removal
* magnaflow resonater
* aem cold air intake
* comp blower cams
* five spokes of some kind (wanna sell some?)
* back seat removal
* roll cage *sigh*

Here is him trying to bash on me and giving justification on his future mods,lmao

Right.... cause you have a ton of room to talk? Why would you post a 15.2 at 79? That's not fast. I don't wanna bash you guy, but you started this. I'll justify my list only because I bet I'd be asked to anyway...
* In order to be completed:
* Muffler removal
* magnaflow resonater

Is there a problem with me wanting my car to sound like a tuner?

* aem cold air intake

Cold airs DO imporve throttle response. That's not an arguable point.

* comp blower cams

Why is this a problem?

* five spokes of some kind (wanna sell some?)

Oh no! I want rims!

* back seat removal

Should put "to be replaced with wall of subs"

* roll cage *sigh*

So I can run at local spectator drags, plus it will look badass.

There's more but that should suffice,lmao fu*in noobs

Anyone wanna place some bets on when he wrecks the car?]:->

O and the way to make it not shift weird is.... Inbetween 1st and 2nd gear jam it in Park then back to Drive really fast. It fools the torque converter and computer to shift faster

^^^^ exactly, that's what I've always done. It works wonders

Oh, and when you remove the muffler, make sure to check the muffler bearing. You don't want to be running without that.... It could cause some major issues.
