i have only ever drove one s/c 2.4 and i ran 14.7 but i did not drive it hard as it was not my car.
but it also had secret cam swap and Drag radials and some other stuff. the owner of the car went 14.3 that nite..........

HP tuners does wonders on the 96 ECU.
this is what it did for me :
step one, plug it in.
step two - Unable to connect= 15 hp
about that i got the 97 computer swap

i told him weeks ago HPT would not work on a 96. he said ok and he did an entire engine harness and 97 VCM swap. worked perfectly.
