it should mostly come down to driver i have looked up the stock times of these cars since my good friend has one and we used to be even. but i also have a ld9 five speed.

umm if your racing a tiburon with a V6 i do believe the word is that you will ............................well get wasted. They are quick cars. Not much more heavy than our cars either. Alot of people think that the power determines a winning race, when really i've seen a 300HP Honda S2000 out run an 800HP Skyline GTR on a time attack because of the power to weight ratio! The S2000 spent its on money on Dry-carbon aerodynamics, making the car weigh 1750 LBS. A lot of things matter, weight, power, traction, weather conditions, can make an interesting race.
both are standards.. he doesn't know how to drive that much.... but im not the best.. I have a lot more experience than him though.

ok tib HA HA there nice cars butt come on i have a 96 2.2 cavalier wit a 5spd last year at the track it just an intake,header and 2.5" cat i ran a 16.40 in just 3 times down the track first time ever leagley that is butt there quick butt not that good anyways i have raced a stock eco cavalier wit a auto and it wasn't bad i have full exhaust and intake and i can out run a z24 cavalier no prob in a 1/4 mile that's stock that is just launch halfass good and you shouldn't have a prob
O ya and at the track was a GT tib and it was in a slower class than me and it had a intake with a 5spd and i had stock tires to!!!
guess i will have to just race him to see whats up.

by the golf or the tiburon? the golf is old as @!#$.. lol but he thinks it will beat me. he came up to me today after receiving his ebay headlights and said.. guess what, i was like what.. he said i got my headlights on my car.. i had to cut two arms off the radiator support but i got them on... lol i was like wow dude your dumb...

take it to the track if you want to find out who is faster. i say "who" is faster to emphasize the fact that its not only the car, but the driver also.
I myself have beaten a '69 shelby cobra in my (at the time) STOCK 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2200 3 speed. he stalled out shifting to second gear and the car died on him. (dumb@$$ boy had his mommy buy him the car) does that mean im faster, no. but i won.
so go to the track, have fun, get time slips, and compare.
I'll eventually take the time to put something here. I swear.
Loy-couldn't have said it better myself because there really is more to racing than that magical horsepower number, knowing how to operate your machine is the real battle. and for the record derric, horsepower doesn't mean too much at the dragstrip, torque is where it's at

it woulda been epic if he started it back up again and caught up. those cars are so swet lol
I used to have a VW Golf..... the thing was the slowest car I've ever owned.... it made my 88 Taurus Station wagon seem fast as hell.
Now if it's a GTI..... then you will probably loose.
I also used to own a 2000 Tibby with a 2.0 4-cylinder.... the thing was snappy as hell from 0-60 but after that it fell on its face.... I raced a V6GT Tibby with it and he only beat me by half a car....
That said..... The Sunfire I have know would blow the doors off the Tibby I used to have in a streight line... but I have a LD9 in my car...

well put, 2.0 golfs are slow i beat one very quickly by at least 4 cars.. gti thats a different storey haven't raced one yet will have to see how that turns out will probably be close lol
I raced a late 80's GTI (back when they first came out with DOHC and supposedly had 150HP) with my Sunfire once...... I walked right by him... As for the VR6 powered ones..... IDK how fast they are for sure.... I think they run mid to high 15's but I'm not sure.
haha i watched my friends pos stock d16 civic almost beat a chipped vr6, the vr6 pulled away by just a little bit approx 2 cars then the kid begged to race me i just laughed..
