Circle Track Sunfire!!

Ok, after one year of racing this car, it will be very hard to go back to my escort or my corolla ever again lol! This is a 1999 Sunfire donated to me by a sponsor last year. The smoothness and outstanding handling of my car amazed me. Out of a 40 car field, this cars first lap EVER qualified me in the top 20. During the season, I've won many races with it and would like to race throughout 2008 with this sunfire. Here is a video of a trophy dash of mine, competing against 3 of the top cars in a 4 lap shootout. The paint on my car is stock red.... no need to paint when the car was in excellent condition when I got it.

I am looking for fellow FWD circle track racers. I would like to compare strategies and set-up techniques, or chat about what has worked for you on the track. I race asphalt high bank 1/4 mile.

You can also contact me at www.myspace.com/lowridaz22

I just customize em, I don't fix em.

Nice video. Cool to see J's doing well in other things. Seems they might have had a little more speed on the end of the straights but could not handle the corners as well. Good driving.

Congrates on the wins.

I started racing a cavalier mid season and had some promising results. Are you running the twin cam engines or are ya limited having to run a 2200 single cam like our hornet class.I run at holland speeway in upstate n.y. its a nascar sanctioned facility. check it out at hollandspeedway.com

Thanks for the response!!! :o)

Bob johnson and Option D, our class started out like a Ucar class... but with high speeds and more competition, it's more like a pure stock or ministock class now. most of the cars ran 20 second laps 5 years ago, now the better half of us run 16.5 to 17.8 second laps. Instead of the class being "totally stock" 5 years ago..... small mods and camber are allowed now. Basically the mods are allowed till you blow away all 50 cars, then they'll make you tone it down.

John Higgins.... I'm working on the handling in corners.. that's my biggest obstacle right now. There are so many camber / caster / toe formulas that I went the whole year trying different things, and I still have a hard time cracking the top 5. There's gotta be something that'll do it!

Q33.... We are limited to the SOHC. a couple years ago a saturn ran the DOHC and just about lapped the entire field in the main events. I checked out your track, I think i'd get alot more speed out there, our track is pretty tight. We had a figure 8 track for a while, but the class was cancelled due to a tragic accident. A driver that was 2 laps down wanted to get even with the leader ( from an earlier spin) and T-boned him at full speed, sending the leader rolling 4 times and to the hospital for 3 months and multiple surguries. The fig. 8 is still there, but they built a stage in the middle of it.

Keep the comments and suggestions coming guys! This is gonna be a long winter break! :o)

Wow, there was a guy at Old Domin Speedway, neer Mannassass VA that ran a Cav, don't know how he did, after my old high school sold our pro 4 stock car, I didn't go to the circltrack events there anymore. Well, except the drift comp that was held there, but they just used the track. I don't even know if that track is still there, it changed owners, and I kept hearing rumors that it had closed down, and it was going to be demolished to make way for houses.

Low, they try to keep our class completely stock. With the key word try. I have found out to crack top 7 or 8 you have to really put some cash into the motor. We are also going to stiffen up the right front to make it turn. But from the looks of your video you have gotten a lot figured out. Have you tried a stiffer spring on the right?

Q33 we are limited to SOHC at motormile speedway also. They also tried running imports and domestics together in 05 but nobody could keep up with the integras so they went back to single cams only.

Evil J ODS is still around the housing market slow down has given them a few more years.

Option D there is a bunch of shadows and Daytona’s that run down here. But the escorts are usually the hardest to beat.

Low I do like the idea of sharing information since we are all racing in different areas there wont be any conflicts I will dig out my track notes and see what tire pressures helped us the most.
