First off, thank you Ryne for posting this video.
The reason this was said to be kept on the "d/l" is because that pass was FAAAAR from perfect and we know it had 10 second power in it, but I didn't want to make a big hype about an 11.14 when a 10 is hopefully right around the corner.
That was our second pass of the night and quite a few things could have been better.
Here is the slip:
R/T ... .922
60' ... 1.777
330 ... 4.902
1/8 ... 7.365
MPH ... 101.22
1000 ... 9.412
1/4 ... 11.145
MPH ... 125.32
If you watch the video, I hit the two step and it seemingly 'goes away' then comes back on again. I waited to make sure it was ok and eventually left the line a second after the light turned green
. When I left, the tires spun a bit too much and when they hooked they pulled the motor down and we lost a little power. The 60 foot iss not very good at all considering I ran a 1.67 at GLD with worse traction. So when I finally picked the power back up in 2nd gear, I shifted to 3rd no problem but when I went for 4th (only about 30 feet from the end of the track) I missed. Yeah I know, I missed 4th, pretty hilarious huh? But it turns out that was just the sign that led to the end of the experimental kevlar clutch we were running. Because the next pass I blew right through the clutch and nasty clutch smell flooded the engine compartment for days afterwords lol. My dad speculates the clutch had been suffering all the way through the pass and finally gave up when I went for 'torquey' 4th, so he thinks with the new clutch the MPH should pick up and the E.T. should drop drastically. But by missing 4th (Or not running 3rd all the way through the beams) We lost quite a bit of MPH and a tenth or two. Also, we were running rather rich at 10.5 because it was about 90 degrees out lol. So with what we learned from that pass, the 10 should be on the next pass or two. I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date!

AMAZING to have all that go wrong...and STILL run deep into the 11's
Damn it makes me wish I could come out tomorrow to watch you guys hit that record breaking 10. Good luck to you guys and keep it pointed the right way tomorrow Adam.
Gimme a call WHEN you run that 10.

That launch is really soft... you should be at least pullin 1.5s. Of course, we have @!#$ for suspension bits available

yes it is a soft launch but remember that is my second time out with the car. It took me about 120 passes in 2005 to get that car into the 1.6 60 foots and that was shifting into second right there, now i shift to second well past the 60 foot mark. In all honesty, the J-body suspension is nothing to be ashamed of. If you notice, the car doesn't really bounce around on upshifts. Our high powered Eclipse was just a joke going down track when it was runnin glow 11's. The rear bumper scraped the ground I swear lol. Like I've said many times, we are sneaking up on the power and being extra safe so the tire pressure was 10 PSI (8 PSI in 2005) and the 2-step only at 6,000. It takes time to finesse the launch when the clutch is an on/off switch
.
Matt - One step at a time my friend. Let's run the 10 first before we talk about 9's lol. Other than the slicks and the open downpipe (and insurance) the car is 100% street legal. The only thing really holding it back is I would have to fabricate a whole new exhaust system and because I have a cobalt for daily use, there is no justification for making one. I wasn't pulling on the guy next to me because he ran a high 9 pass at roughly 135 MPH lol.
