SCCA, NHRA, local oval track? Rules packages vary on material, diameter, and wall thickness.

Its not pipe. pipe is for fluids or air to travel thru.

emt or ridgid is conduit, thats for wires to run thru.

Tubing is used to build cages.

If you were considering either of the above you deffinitely cant do the job yourself and need to seek the help from a fabricator.

S&W race cars make roll cages for pretty much any application and if they don't make it you can send in your measurments and then will build it off that. They use either mild steel or cromemoly and you can get either DOM or EWS tubing. I have one for my car, haven't installed it yet but just test fitting the main hoop it fit perfectly. I would really recommend them if you are seriously in the market for a cage.

I just saw that howe racing (howeracing.com) has come out with a compact car roll cage kit for 2nd gen cavs and neons that looks pretty cool. The kit comes in 2 parts - the cage which can be welded together outside of the body and then can fit through the door - and the car specific mounting pieces. Pricing around $350 for both parts. It's made of .095 x 1.75 tubing - but don't know what kind of tubing.
Anybody out there built one yet? or have any more info?
For those of us who are welding impaired, this looks like a neat idea for a cage kit.
