Results from the Track last night: New England Dragway

3 times the track was shut down. Fluid on the track twice and a guy racing a bike wiped out. He got up and walked away but the bike was trashed. It was about 55 degrees out.

That said - I only got 2 runs in.

First pass the car was coughing and breaking up in the upper rpm's

14.682 @ 98.23 mph with a .104 reaction time

Second pass felt much better although I did have lots of wheel spin with the heavy 17 inch rims...
My personal best for this car so far

14.428 @ 98.91 mph with ( get this ) a .003 reaction time! woo hoo! If I could only hook up!

Time slips:

1st run ... 2nd run

R/T - .104 ... .003
60' - 2.269 ... 2.309
330 - 6.236 ... 6.204
1/8 - 9.516 ... 9.340
mph - 74.65 ... 77.74
1000' - 12.327 ... 12.090
1/4 - 14.682 ... 14.428
MPH - 98.23 ... 98.91

Win? No ... Yes

Oh what I would give to be tuned with HP Tuners and be running drag radials. It needs tuning so bad.
I know there is much more that can be squeezed out of the old beast...I just have to find it.

Comments and stuff welcome.

Just currious how you are launching the car? In my car (also a auto) it makes a day and night difference if i do a low rpm brake torque to launch. I've seen as much as a .5 second difference in my ET from launching from idle and then launching from 1,400rpm.

Glad you're making progress.

Sweet!

Looks like sticky tires should be in your future.

Skillz,

I have been launching too hard. I get too excited and brake torque it to 2,000 rpms. The wheels spin and I get a bad launch. I keep trying to tell myself to stop doing this but at the line I seem to forget to try something new .

Lash,

Sticky tires will be part of next seasons purchase list.

What do you guys reccomend for drag radials? I'd like something sticky enough for the track but good enough to drive home on. ( 1.5 hour drive on semi crappy roads through Boston )

I'd like to find a couple of light rims for them as well. Again, any reccomendations?

ACER,

What rpm do you launch at? Are you running the 18's and the Nankangs at the track?
