Shifting Gears

When you guys drag, how far do you press in the clutch? How can you tell when the synchros are disengaged allowing the shifts?

I've been pushing the clutch all the way, the crappy suspension rockets me fowards, then I lurch back when 2nd or 3rd engages. I think I'm losing time because of this.

2003, btw.

Well regardless of how much you push the clutch in you are going to get that. That is stock suspension for you. Anytime you dis-engage the power from the drivetrain you will get that. With a better suspension you will even get it some. More practice and faster shifts.

i just find the "spot" and shift. i tried sitting close and sitting further back. sitting further back made ME shift faster. it was fun test driving the cobalt ss for 2 days spanking mustangs

try feathering out the clutch just a bit on you're 1-2 shifts, that should smooth things out abit. also maybe you're letting out the gas prematurly

My 2.4 when stock would still beat your rice fart cannon.
