Ran the car for the first time last night... and like the topic says, by best run was a 16.63
I (or really anyone) could any traction.
Here are my times in the better of the 2 lanes:
RT - .679
60' - 2.443
330 - 6.969
1/8 - 10.671
MPH - 66.81
1000 - 13.877
1/4 - 16.632
MPH - 81.7
I have a 2.4L with the 4spd Auto
mods are:
intake
catback
RKSport upper and lower motor mounts
B&M Shift improver
had steelies on front with brand new tires on them, so tires weren't the issue.
track really was taken care of, and it was hummid. Couldn't get the temps under 195degree's on the cooling system.
Things I want to add are, hi-flow cat and header... Do you think that this will get me into the 15's?
On a possitive note. I had zero wheel hop, but a little to much wheel spin
...
well... i went ahead and ordered a Magnaflow Cat. (p/n-94035)
Hopefully it helps a little, and once the headers gets purchased (should be next weekend) it'll bring out the car alot
...
Your 60 foot time wasnt that good. ... Shoot for 2.2's .
Otherwise welcome to owning an auto 4 door car .
And a cat / header isnt going to shave off that much time , maybe high 15s?
if it hits 15.999 im happy.
and yeah, my 60's sucked because of traction and heat
...
what was your PSI in your front tires?
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
32. I didn't have a air tank to refill the psi and there is not a gas station for a few miles out from that track.
...
I had similar times when I went out in February of this year. Are you holding the brakes down and reving your engine to 2k or 3k? The power range starts after 3k so that will help if you do that. I had a rksport short ram intake, cat back and an auto trans interceptor and ran 16.4 and 16.3. I added an extension to my intake to make it cold air intake and added a 4-1 header. My best time was 16.03 in 95 degree heat of PHX.
"Smoked"
yeah, I was launching at 2K.
hopefully next week i'll be able to get a header ordered, and get the cat on. The full exhuast should help, and I plan on getting some cooler air into the filter

all the tracks ive been to had air pumps located at various places around the track. next time ask where one is. or ask someone to use there pump

i was catching traction pretty good i thought (me n stenger went to the same track friday), my 60' was a 2.3 and i ran a 16.2 @ 83 in my 4spd auto Z24

everyone there was runnin slower that day.
...

that MSP is my friend Brandon Taylors.... He said it was hopping really bad. lol. Of course, its bone stock, and like I said, HUMMID temps.
if we went on a cooler night it would of been much better.
the white turbo civic was doing 17's. lol. But he said something about tring a new boost controller out, and didn't want to have a fuel cut so he practiced his lights for the UHMR race coming up.
the track was hardly taken care of. They didn't really spray it but once, and it was right before slicks run. And they eat it all up.
Talking to the girlfriend she said alot of people have quit going to edgewater because of this. According to her and some of her Rail Car friends, Edgewater is not treating the track right even during big comps. Alot of people have started driving up to Tri-State or Thornhill. Which thankfully Thornhill just repaved the track
...
Edge water isn't a bad track but tristate as a track is better but you will still run the same times. I thought thorne was an 1/8 mile? 1/8 miles suck.
Last time I check humidity really dosent effect your traction (unless it is 100% (raining)) but your intake air/fuel?
Like everyone one has told you your exactly where a 4dr auto should be. the header should take atleast 0.50-1.00, cat i don't know, and your tires need to be deflated. you can knock of atleast a 0.10 by doing that and you can get down to the bp in cleves with 20 psi.
16.50 with tires
15.50-16.00 maybe with header and cat.

not bad.......I did 16.8 on my 2.2 ECO with intake only... its an LS sport sedan AT...so its very heavy ( plus I had my sub woofers in my trunk )
header+catback will give you more top end....like my brother in his 97 Z24 AT with I/H/E did 16.2......but when I race with him....he always passes my after 85mph+
CaviFL45
What altitude is your guys track at?
my old 2.4 auto used to Love to run 16.13
but had a BEST of 15.82
My best run i had was a 15.89. 5 spd manual!!
my 5 speeds best run is 15.11
work on your launch a 2.4 is terrible should be 2.2 or so and remeber ever .1 in the 60 foot is around .2 in the 1/4
For some reason our times here in the greater cincy area are constantly about 0.50-1.00 greater than some of the times I see posted here on the .org? We need someone with a d-pic or something to test to make sure that the tracks are calibrated correctly? maybe has something to do with the altitude? I think were about 900ft?

local track info-
Edgewater-492ft above sea level-1/4 and 1/8
Kilkare-880 ft above sea level-1/4 and 1/8
Tristate-N/A but it has to be higher than edgewater because edgewater is in a valley... 1/4 and 1/8
Thorn Hill-N/A- it runs both 1/4 and 1/8- No test and tune only bracket racing. Bare bones track not even a scoreboard they announce your time over the intercom.
hell, even a range finder would work. lol.
...
I've only run 1/8 mile, stock was 10.55, now, with RKSport intake, poly motor mount, and front transmount, gutted cat, and the front tires at 19.5 psi, rears at 35, I ran 10.105, at almost 70 mph. That was with me granny shifting, I could go faster if I shifted a little faster. By the way, I have a 2005 Sunfire with the Eco, and 5 speed.
Caution: Redneck Posting
I just went out on Friday and with a CAI, header, hi-flow cat, cat back, upper/lower motor mounts, and an Auto Trans Inter. I ran 15.962 @ 85mph.
Next time I go I plan on putting the steelies on to see if they make a difference over my 16s. I was hoping for low 16s and was happy to seem them. Good luck on your next trip to the strip.
