For my 1st post a few questions What J body has the most stock hp in the 4 cyclinder and 6 cyclinder ? It should be older car 85 to 95 because im going to run it at an 3/8 asphalt track cant find or buy newer unit for the right price Im just going to cut it up and put a full cage in it ! anyway Does the Z have alot better spring rates and tuffer axels? Does anybody have any stock appearing tricks for motor or chassis ? Whats the newest J body you can get a 6 cyclinder in?
Thanks JL
( Can put some pictures as the car comes along )
1994 was the last year for a V6.

Can you run turbo if it came on the car stock? If so, I would suggest an old Sunbird (1989-90ish) with the 2.0 turbo. Very light and easy to get more power out of. Otherwise you can probably get a 95 z24 with the quad four and swap in the w41 engine and keep the stock idi cover to look stock.

isnt the 99 2.4 engine alittle faster than the other ones? i thought i read something about 99 2.4's had 155hp instead of 150 like most.
Thanks for the info. I wish i could run a turbo but thats a no go on the Turbo ! Anybody know what the hp+ weight is on the v6 stock ?
2.3L, its a 4 cylinder with like 170 horse and same torque i believe.
For the year range you are asking for, here are the engines that have the higher HP.
2.3L 4 Cyl 150hp with 152 ft-lbs torque. This was in the 95 Z24.
3.1L V6 140hp with 185 ft-lbs of torque. This was in the Z24 up to and including 1994.
98 Z24
