Myself and I'm sure numerous others are very curious to know what some of you guys ran at the bash this year. Please list your mods and times here
thanks guys
my best was 16.450 i have a b&m short throw shifter, k&n drop in air filter, and 2.25 inch cat back pipe with ractive muffler on it.... i have lots of suspension mods too... it was just way to hot and humid to be racing.... it killed everyone.....
14.2
...Car was bogging all day off the line.... The track was crazy slick.... My 60ft is usually 2.0 to 2.1, @ the bash it was 2.2 to 2.4..... Spun the slicks all the way through 1st gear and thats with an autotrans!!!

Wow...nice times. Mid-high 14's are sure to come with better conditions.
16.9 was my best of the day.... of course i have a 2200
13.221 @ 108.94....... 11psi (quilifying run)
13.338 @ 109.72....... 11psi (second run of the day)
13.375 @ 97.23....... 9psi (first run of the day)
on a side note, we where running out of 4th gear way before the traps (just after 1000' mark maybe) and our 5th gear is MIA at the moment.
....... and the only cars (3 of them) to run faster times then us, where running full slicks.

my best here (jersey) is 15.237 @ 90.38..i know that wasn't the question haha, but i'm just saying this to compare to my best in indy....was everyone else running around .5 slower and 3-4 mph off their traps???

Sounds like it was a pretty accurate track.

I ran a best of 15.03 at the Midnight Madness around 11 pm. My best run during the day was a few 15.1's.
Not terribly happy with that.
Mods are in my registry.
i don't know if it was elevation, the heat or what
my traps were off by as much as 5mph.
track prep sucked ass. whenever I tried to feather my clutch I'd end up bogging, but when I'd give it more gas I'd slip like crazy. There was no happy medium at that track and the lack of power due to heat was more than annoying.
Also, what happened to bracket racing? Whats with this one shot qualifier round BS? Anyone else notice how you weren't allowed to deep stage?
Or how one lane didn't have an 1/8 mile time?
I thought this was an international raceway, not some crappy back water track... hell our local back water track is better than there.
and what was the random number throwing up on the board after launch? I thought it was r/t but then I was seeing 5.43 seconds?? wtf is that all about
the numbers ranged from 0.04 to 5.67 seconds... and these people weren't sitting on the tree for 5 seconds.. even if you left decent, it would have a really high number...
overall the racing left a really bad taste in my mouth not just cuz of crappy times, but it seems like they were having either major computer timing issues, or just plain sucked.
I wanted to come back and race that night to see if I could cut better times, but I didn't feel like putting up with more crap.
I miss thompson raceway and night racing last year... at least it was cooler and gave you more power
just to add on one thing that pj was saying...
for the qualifying round for the quick 8, when i ran and got my timeslip i saw that my number(39) wasn't on the slip there was 59(which im pretty sure was that crazy grand am) and some 100 something number, so i pulled over and ran back to the woman that was giving the time slips and asked her what was up with it. she told me that they probably just messed up my number up in the tower and that it didn't matter they would know who i was.
but needless to say i dont think they did, and even if i did qualify for the quick 8 they didn't know who the time belonged to, so yeah.
the end.

I actually thought the track facilities were awesome, though it's true that the track wasn't prepped and apparently hadn't been for about a week!
The 8th mile timer that wasn't working was fixed that day. I've been to tracks where a few of the timers weren't working and they didn't seem to care. IRP fixed that one before the night time racing began.
I definitely think the single qualifying run was BS though. I missed a shift and was done with. I had a bunch of runs throughout the day that were much better than the lowest qualifying runs but that one race was a bust, so I was SOL. That didn't sit well with me.
Same goes for the lack of a bracket race. There should have been a bracket class as well. It's not like we didn't have time for it or something.
Overall though, I think the track was awesome, and probably the nicest I will ever see.
I walked the starting line numerous times during the day to keep eye on things for KQ4 Jake. It appeared Bill and I were the only ones that did it very often. The clues to your traction woes were there.
As for it being slick, yes it did get slick later, but I found spots for Jake to line up that got him consistent 60’ times throughout the whole day. 1.79-1.81 if I recall correctly in eliminations. Bill was doing the same thing for Darren and Adam.
As for track prep it was done very well to start the day. There was some rubber laid down, it had been scraped, and VHT applied. After that, I don’t recall either guy running the tree touching the VHT can again, and here’s no doubt why.
Unlike your home tracks, The Bash is ALL FWD cars, with the vast majority running street tires. Street tires inherently peel the laid rubber off the track surface, so as the day progressed, you had all FWD cars and two nice rectangular concrete bald spots (no rubber) where every one lined up. The bald spots extended a good 30’ out at the end of the day. IRP could have laid rosin and VHT down as the day progressed, but the street tires would have peeled it off as fast as they could lay it down.
Combine a marginal starting line (60’ times) with complete chit air for racing (trap speed), I can see why ET’s were off, the air was just brutal.
We thought the racing part of the program was a bit dysfunctional as well. There was no driver’s meeting, no explanation of how the program was to work, and obtaining tech cards was a bit difficult a first, but we still had fun which is why we made the tow.
A drivers meeting would be virtually impossible since most ppl dont take the racing seriously and dont show up on time, not to mention most are novices and wouldnt understand the terms anyway.
I knew to not expect much I had alot of issues before even getting to the bash, and I didnt have the proper equipment for racing, I was just doing it for the practice for later in the year and next year when I'll actually have something worth racing

Maybe not for all classes..... but at least for the H3, and possibly H2....... or even just to let everyone know all 3 classes are Quick 8 style, with one quilifying run......
IDK, I had fun, even if I didnt have tracktion.

I was not there this year, but last year and in 02. Both times it would have been nice to have a meeting to let us know exactly how things will work. You are correct a lot of people would understand a true drivers meeting. Just let us know this is how qualifying would work. I know they usually try to announce that info on the loud speaker, but sometimes you just can't hear that.

yea i had fun even though i was the slowest ecotec there...
and the one run quilifying was
