went to the track this past friday with my new 05 2.2 ecotec cavalier 5 speed
it has 18" zenix rims which arent really heavy well i have an exhaust intake and a 55 shot wel i wanted to see what it puled with nitrous but before i could see what it ran with nitrous i blew the front axle on the driver side
would like to know if anyone else has had this problem thanks
i ran a 15.9 stock missed 4th
i think it may have been a defective part. I never seen or heard of one going bad on one.

YA i had a bet with my boy hes runnin 14.1 consecutive and i wanted to see if i could keep up wit him we both sprayin same shot i know i probly couldnt beat him just to mess wit him and i get to the line and brake an axle lol bad luck is right
i've never heard of anyone busting stock axles like that
hell, team green's project blew up the diff in the water box but NEVER blew the axle...
Were you spraying when the axle broke?
Did it happen right on the launch?
Give some details on what happened.
In the end, it likely was just a bad axle since there's other stuff that can usually be expected to break before the axles go.
Or maybe you've just got one hella-strong drivetrain and way more traction than is good for ya.
What gear were you spraying in?

At the 02 Bash we got to see first-hand what happens when you spray right out of the gate.
If that's what happened... you should be happy you broke an axle. As I mentioned... other stuff can usually be expected to break first and it's way more expensive stuff.
he didnt even spray. I was the guy he was talking about running 14.1. As soon as he launched it spun alittle to much and just stopped. he said he launched at 3grand but didnt even get to hit button.
not to post jack, but what happend at the 02 bash? i plan on running a window switch soon and will be spraying basically right off the line, so what happended?

Wheel hop is the killer of axles. When you get wheel hop let off.
FU Tuning
yeah, wheel hop is bad--- I have seen a lot of guys break stuff wheel hoppin off the line. try launching a little lower next time and not just dumping the clutch.
