tire size hurting mine times?

Last year i ran the 1/4 mile 16.00, and my 1/8 mile time on my slip says 10.2. That was with a 2000 cavi sedan with just 2 1/4 cat-back.With 195-50-15 tires. Last nite the best i could get was a 10.1 on a 1/8 mile track. But now i have a header, intake, high flow cat and shift plus kit. With 205/65/15 tires. whats the deal? Could it be because one was a 1/4 mile trake and the other is a 1/8 mile or what.

that and some tracks are faster than the other. Plus you have to take into account for weather conditions from one day to the other. There are 3 tracks in my area and one i hit almost 106mph and the other ones i am lucky if i can get above 103mph.

yea tires matter alot.... smaller the wheels the shorter your gears will be

thats what i thought, their is no way that a header, hi flow cat , intake and shift kit only good for a tenth of a second.

Yeah, the wheels will definitely have an impact.

While those would be crap for everyday driving, you can see the benefit they've got on the strip.

15's shorten your gear ratio pretty good.... if you want a good 1/8 and 1/4 car than get a good set of 15's. people might laught because you have little wheels, but i gaurantee that those little wheels will out perform 16's or 17's

anybody have any suggestions for tire sizes with 14" steelies?

i was looking at BF Goodrich G-froce drag radials size P225 45R14

I figure the large patch will give good traction and the lesser sidewall will keep the tire pretty stiff even if I drop pressure slightly (wider foot print)

yay or nay?

the stiffer sidewall will hurt more than help, get alittle taller sidewall and you'll be set. I run a 235/60/15" M/T drag radial

The 235/60/15 is a 26.1" dia tire, he wants one that is shorter tha the stock tires which come out to be24.9" to 25". BFG(G-Force T/A Drag radials) has a P215/60R14 which is 24.2", or a P225/50R15 which is 23.9". Both have wider foot prints and are shorter for more effective gearing.
