stalling 97 z24

posted question about this before but now I am getting trouble codes. first code I found was 121 which is TPS performance & the second is 171 fuel trim system lean. I cleared the codes then started the car back up it ran for a little wile then stalled again the code 171 came back up. this only happens when the temp goes just past the 195 mark a little. the car doesn't over heat at all. happens faster when the ac is on. I am going to test the TPS like my chilton book says but if anyone has any more ideas I would appreciate it.

the tps is the throttle position sensor its right on the throttle body

I tested the TPS and it was ok according to what the chilton book said. I still think it is a fuel issue because I changed the coil-packs & spark plugs. It just seems like it looses fuel pressure and starts missing then stalls. turn key off for a second and then it will restart for a little wile and then stalls again. any ideas?

fuel pump... or electrical issue it sounds like somthings not plugged in properly will it stay running if you give it gas. We had the same problem with a subaru which is not similiar what so ever but somthing just wasnt plugged in... when i first got my car and it hadnt been driven for a long time it useta stall right after start up going coming up a hill or somthing but after i drove it for about 3k miles no more and it hasnt stalled the 3 years ive had it lol.. Maybe go to a junk yard and get a tps off a throttle boddy and try plugging it into that.. If you start ur car without the tps it will rev all crazy and stall i know thats for sure so its probably a bad tps

I don't think it is the fuel pump because they either work or they don't plus the stalling only happens when the motor get over 195 deg. It is fuel because today when it was starting to stall I pull the intake tube off and when it went to stall I sprayed some carb cleaner in the throttle body and it kept it from stalling so that tells me it is fuel. does anyone know if the MAP sensor, IAC or the fuel pressure regulator can cause the fueling issue. I am trying to get to the salvage yard this weekend for a throttle body & fuel pressure reg. thank for the suggestions .

you can try unplugging tps and see if it does the same thing idk ur motor isnt supose to get hot over 195 usually... you could try cleaning the throttle body with some carb cleaner and paper towels its that simple try putting dry gas in the tank if its a fuel issue or check the fuel filter but it sounds electrical to me Because if it runs fine till it gets over 195 somthing is telling the computer somthing most likely and its stalling code 121 means the tps isnt performaning properly and the other code means the car is running really lean and not getting the gass it needs like if it ran rich thats to much gas you see.. idk just trying to help now that i think about it it sounds like clogged fuel filter and a bad tps but im just poking around

I'm just jumping in this thread... It does seem like a fuel issue, not necessarily lack of fuel but improper fuel delivery, in this case it is not getting enough once the engine warms up to 195 or whatever.. I would check out the injectors.. Ohm them for resistance, I'm not sure what spec is for these, when they are cold, then run the engine up to operating temp and ohm again, then run till the engine starts to stall and ohm one more time.. check for differences. In theory they can/will run fine when cool and up to a certain temp, but like any electrical device enough heat can cause them to stop working. This should help narrow down the problem and its free to check. Good Luck.
