So my freind has ineffectually dubbed my cavalier the "Orca Whale" due to it's recent development of an unlovely noise. Now for a description of said noise.
It's a pop...not just any kind of pop, but a groaning kind of pop that only happens for like just a second.
It happens during low and no speed turning, as well as when accelerating and braking.
The sound while braking and accelerating happens when the front end raises and drops like something is popping while the weight is being loaded and unloaded. This isn't during hard braking or accelerating either. If I'm braking more than just very lightly...pop. If I'm being SUPER easy and creeping up to a light, it won't pop under braking, but the slightest amount of acceleration seems to cause the front end to pop as the front suspension unloads.
While low speed turning it pop pops. As the wheels turn they pop through the change in direction of the wheel, and this is at low speeds, or if I'm turning the wheels while at a stop. At higher speeds during maneuvers the sound is non existent, unless there is a sharp and drastic change in motion, like coming around a corner too hard.
The suspension isn't old at all, like maybe three years, and under 10-15K on NEW springs and shocks, with a new rack and pinion installed at the same time.
any ideas?
Missing brake caliper bolt???
Honda's are like tampons, Every PU$$Y has one!!!
could be a missing or severely damaged bushing? i would check any bushings related to or involved with the suspension, over-compressed bushings wear out very quickly.
just a thought, let us know what you find out
sounds like some thing suspension related, sounds like it this
