I've been lookin up different engines and what not
and i was thinkin that either the 2.4 twin or the 2.2 eco would be my best bet
but i just wanted some opinions on the matter
and which would be the easiest
2.4 twin =P
2.4 twin = eco basically...
its just a personal preference which motor you want... they both have the same potential and capabilities...
or you can step up and drop an LG0 HO Quad motor which is > eco & LD9
well either or is gonna be the same amount of work comin from a 2200 base. u need more parts and work then if u were going twin -eco or eco -twin
welll none of them can hook up to the same bell housing for the trans can they..
im tryin to get the most i can for cheapest =P
thank you for the advice tho..
The eco has better aftermarket support than the LD9.

It's an electrical nightmare. But if you swap in a 2.2L Eco from a J-body the supercharger and turbo system off the Cobalt SS with work on your car.
would the 2.2L eco match up wit the non-eco tranny or would i need to get another tranny too
sorry about all these questions...just tryin to figure everything out.
You will need the tranny from the eco car. There is a How-to in the 3rd gen forum.
the super charger for the Cobalt SS will also work on an LD9 !!
while the ld9 and the eco share the same transmission, the bellhousing is different, you will need the transmission made for the motor.
again i say v6. you can keep your trans. it's becoming quite common, so there's plenty of info and the v6 is more plentiful than the twin cam engines.

The V6 would never move the car

9 seconds... but that looked like very slow shifts...
the 3400 stock in a J should be a 13 second qt mile car...

Low 14's at the best is what a stock 3400 in a stock J. And, i'll be the first to say that with the 3.58 in the Isuzu trans, it makes it harder. Getrag cars definately have a good advantage here.
As for the slow shifts. I was trying to hold the camera and drive and shift at the same time, so you'll have that.
