What? Your old flywheel wont line up with the motor you bought with the auto trans? What year is the motor you bought?

I have a 5 speed manual. The motor I bought was for an automatic. I pulled the automatic flywheel off to put the clutch flywheel on and the bolt holes wont line up. Three bolt holes line up but the other two are off about a quarter of an inch. Was told the motor was for a 96 Cavalier but I dont know if that is true. How do you tell what year the motor would be? I appreciate the help. Thanks!

If its a 95 or older, the intake manifold should look different from yours. If it didnt have one, then look at the intake manifold bolt pattern. Should be different from yours.

If thats all the same, then you must have a 96 and up. Now in 2000, they removed the EGR. You have an EGR. It sits right next to the intake manifold, driver side of the car. Does this engine you got, have an EGR?

Although, none of this should matter. Its the same block... Hmmm... Measure the pattern on both engines...

im pretty sure flywheels on these cars have a staggered bolt pattern, so they can only be bolted up one way.
