i need to know thanks is it possible to get a 2.2 in a convertable or only the 2.4? years 2000-2002?
Nick
Pretty sure they stopped making the vert in 00. and in 00 the convertible was a Z24, so the only option was the 2.4.... Least from what I can figure out on www.kbb.com

i thought the vert was strictly 95-99? and u could get a 2200 i think?

1995 convertible came with either the 2.2ohv or the optional 2.3quad4
1996-1997 came with the 2.2ohv again and then the 2.4 as the optional motor
1998-00 only came with the 2.4 as all model convertibles were either the z24 or Gt for the sunfire.
To answer the OP,yes it is possible, engine swap.lol

unless your talking about the ecotec 2.2 no you cant unless you swapped it in .. the last model year for the vert was in 2000 and the ecotec wasnt even an option until mid way thru 2002. also if you ever been or driven in a vert you would understand why having a 2.2 OHV or even the 2200 ohv is a bad idea.. the weight of the vert needs that extra HP from the ld9 lol

Just to make a correction. 1998-00 Convertibles came only with 2.4, but had both SE, and GT flavors. Also both had the option to come equipped with the white vinyl seats and trim.
Like mine is a 98 2.4 with SE package but with the White Vinyl Trim option which is kinda rare..
I wouldn't know why he would swap anything other than the Eco motor in,lol, unless its a 3800 S/C
