Hey, whats up. The name is Dawson, like Dawson's Creek. i got a '97 Z24 a couple days ago, from my brother, with a blown motor. im going to be swapping one in, as soon as i find one. its got a 2.4 Twin Cam, but i might swap it to a 2.3 Quad4. depending on my luck finding the 2.4.

Depending on your states emission laws you might not be able to get it inspected w/ a 2.3 search for you local laws and this fourm what's wrong w/ your engine?

there are no emissions laws, or for that matter, inspection of any kind here. my Legend has a salvage title, and they couldnt care less. South Dakota is VERY lenient when it comes to cars. the only reason im thinking 2.3, is its got a few more HP than the 2.4. and i can get one really cheap. i wish i could find a 2.3 HO.

and my engine blew up. cyl one kinda fell off. the rod busted, blew a hole about 2"x4" in the side of the block, and one about 6"x4" in the oil pan. oil plug got stripped out, and it lost about 3.5 qts in a week, started knocking, and then just blew. there is no saving this motor.

but i got the car for free, so im just going to swap another motor in, and drive it for my DD this summer, as its got good a/c
