My intro- New 98 Z24 Owner

Hello everyone,

I recently joined J-Body.org and figured I should introduce myself. My name is Seth and I just bought a black 98 Z24 coupe. It's a 2.4L with a 5-speed and 185k on the clock. The motor has about 70k and the tranny is a Grand Am tranny with about 96k on it. It has had many parts replaced recently, including New Front Brakes and Rotors, Rear Brakes, Water Pump, Head Gasket, Antifreeze, Front Tires, Battery, Front & Rear Struts, and new headlight and foglight bulbs.

So far I like it, it's not my first GM, my other current car is a 2000 Grand Prix GT which I've swapped the L67 (3800SC) engine into, as well as a cam, headers, etc. The Z24 is now my DD, as it gets good gas mileage and I've always wanted a manual. This site has already come in handy for several things, the stickys are helpful, as well as the search function which most newbies don't use enough I'm not new to the forum thing, I've been on ClubGP for over two years now. I've done a few appearance mods since this picture was taken, including new headlights, window tint, painting the calipers and rotors, etc.

When I got the car it had a few minor problems, several of which I've fixed with help from here, writeups are awesome!! Just got stop-leak for the AC system, and recharged it right after. So far so good, nice cold AC now with no leaking. The only thing I havent fixed yet is the rear defroster switch, the damn thing melted the connector to the switch! I cut off the tab holding the connector in and yanked as hard as I could with no luck. Anyone who has insight on how they fixed it short of splicing on a new connector and getting a new switch from the junkyard, let me know.

The only mods I might do in the future would be a short throw shifter, intake, new muffler (not a rice can!!), and a little paint work. I've got an old Pioneer deck I might throw in, and I might get some new speakers to replace the stockers.

One last thing: if anyone knows the R134a capacity in a 98 Cav, let me know, I want to make sure I put in enough as the low side is only reading ~25PSI.

Ok, that's what I thought. Thanks John for the info and thanks to both of you for the welcome.

Anyone have any input on a muffler that doesnt sound ricey or buzz? I'm picking up a Bomz intake off ebay soon also.
