What about the 1996 grand-am ?

Ok guys I need help here, Since discovering this forum I am getting an itch to do something with this grand-am. mainly engine wise where did you guy's find some of this stuff ?
I was poking around in the forum and stumbled onto the "let's see your ld9's" tread and the pics. Some of your cars are absolutley incredible cant rember the name but I think it is zyaaaaa somthing and his is what I think an engine bay should look like and i would like to model after his.(hopefully he wont mind). here is the link to the tread and mine is the maroon grand-am on page 5 I think the car had been sitting in the woods for 4yrs and I decided to resurect it so far here is the plan : gonna put scoop on hood off of a 83 mustang gt cut hood and screen scoop for true ram air effect with short ram air intake, two tone the paint to 1/4 black on top leave maroon on bottom, find a black 17" wheel preferbly bbs honey comb style. Possibly some other goodies as I get more info. Engine wise I do want to polish or chrome the cover and cam covers, anyway this should start the tread and thanks in advanced for any help.

hey hey! thanks for the kind words!

my polished idi cover came from rk sport... you send them yours, they polish it, and send it back.

your going to need to put a lot of man hours into that engine bay to get it as clean as you are planning on. ive got 4 entire winter's into mine as well as LOTS of money.

the cheaper things you can do are dremel or wire wheel the pressure regulator, i noticed yours is pretty rusty, a wire wheel on a little dremel tool should clean it right up. polish your fuel rail, real easy... 2000 grit sandpaper and hand buff it a few times with a nice soft cloth and aluminum polish, same goes for with the fuel lines.

i painted my timing chain housing and cam towers in the car... it was a bitch to get everything all tapped off and such but thats how i did it and it turned out amazing.

and the biggest thing... patience. take your time and do things slowly. thats the best advise i can give you.

I used that 1st one cuz I wanted to show what kind of car it was in and the quality was better. But this is the next best one I got, camera phone.

I agree,to get your bay as nice as Brad's=tons of time and paitence and of course, cash.but as he said some things can be done inexpensively yourself, and I agree as well, supercharger is the best bang for your buck for boost.,That sounded funny...lol
