Can anyone help me? I got a shifter knob and was trying to get my old one off. I have a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire. but i cant unscrew it and theres no bolt to unscrew. But theres a little like slit on the front. Any Help here.

There's a U clip in that slit. Take a small flathead screwdriver and pry it out.

the U clip can get pushed in sometimes. try to find it with the flathead. if theres nothing there then just pull up on the shift knob

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.

i used a pair of really skinny needle nosed pliers when i took mine off.. try that.. or even a pair of tweezers if you throw them out afterwards bc they can fit in a lot of places that a flathead screwdriver cant. bend the tweezers all the way open where its opened up and get a good grip on one end and stick it there as far as you can then lean it back, that should catch the u-clip.. the tweezers should be able to at least pull it out enough you can grab it with the pliers or a flathead..
