my name is jesse. been on the site for ever. but never posted. had to make another name.lost the old one. im 22 have a 2 years degree in welding and like building turbo kits.. i just recently got a 90 turbo sunbird.. thats my new project. already cut the flange off and welded a t3/t3 flange. have a bigger turbo and just finished the front mount and most of the charge pipes.the only problem is the motor was blown, so i have to get another motor couldn't fine a turbo one if my life depended on it. so im just going to put a n/a motor in it for now an see how it does. if i like the way it is then ill build it better i just don't want to go spending a bunch of money when im still learning on the car. i know about the head gaskets. and i know the n/a pistons are junk but i just want to make sure everthing else is ok..i remembering reading a long time ago about something about use the na cam on the turbo head because of the lift. should i do this or not? fell free to tell me more about the car would love to know more about this cars.. i know everyone has heard this question a million times and i know it has to do with money to but is it hard to get into 12s with these cars? im use to dsm's, and mazda's, there pretty easy to get there. how is the top end on these cars? or are they more a 1/4 car? thanks.

I would try the generation forums for some of your more specific questions....I am guessing yours is a first gen?? I am fairly sure those were the only turbo available ones.

12's are going to be hard.

I dont know about the top end or cam swap....seems doable though.

Oh, and Welcome

I have a fresh turbo bottom end bored .5mm over with about 15 minutes of runtime on it and no miles on it (didn't have suspension on it before I ended up building a C20let.)
e-mail me if you are interested in it, I can throw in a cometic MLS headgasket. Throw some ARPconnecting rod bolt on and the bottom end will support around 350hp at the wheels with a good tune. Beyond that and you need aftermarket connecting rods. 12s can be had easy with a big turbo, FMIC, big injectors/tuning and large, open exhaust. Though you can get there without, it would be a really good idea to port and polish the cylinder head and do a good valve job. If you were to use a C20let head (if so get the coscast version,) I have seen them go as high as 600hp on pump gas. The engine has a much larger aftermarket than you think but a lot of the parts have to come from Europe.

I rarely get on this site but if you need any parts or just want to talk 2.0 turbo possibilities, hit me at FireballBMX22@comcast.net
