Just a quick noob question... Do all j-bodies come standard with keyless entry? I just purchased a '99 sunfire and it didn't come with a keyless remote. thinking of buying off of ebay if Im able to
Hey man, i have a 2003 cavalier and i didn't get a keyless remote either. I checked the fuse box though and noticed i had the fuse for the remote entry system. I forget what it is but if you check the manual it'll be in there. If you dont have a manual let me know and i'll check mine for you and give you a pic of it if you'd like.

It will probably be cheaper to install an aftermarket car alarm w/ keylees entry, than having the oem system installed. I don't know if they all came with it or not (mine did although the remotes barely work anymore), it's possible your car has oem keyless entry, and you just dont have the remotes.
I currently don't have a manual so if you could check your manual for me, or if anyone know where I can find it online that would be awesome.
If I decide to go aftermarket, whats a good suggestion?
Go down to your local GM dealership and ask them to check out the car, they should be able to tell you if the car has a keyless entry system and hook you up with the remotes pretty easy, if they have good maintenance guys there.
one way to know is the reciever box in the trunk. it goes with the system and is one good way to find out.
if all you need is a remote, i can try and get one for you. just go to the dealer and ask them to enter your VIN and see which remote you need, make sure you get me a part number from them. then, i know a dealership here that'll give me remotes. programming is easy too.
if your car didn't come with the system then yes, it is easier to get aftermarket installed. don't pay for the reciever, harness, and remote.

5 seconds to find another street...
Dont you just press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time while standing next to your car to program them? Assuming you have the right ones (part# on back)
Awesome thanks for the info guys, and Just to be clear the reciever is located under the carpet in the trunk near the driver side tail lights correct?
Hey man im a gm parts consultant all u gotta do is take or even call ur local dealer with the last eight of ur vin# and see if ur car has a AUO option!
