are they the same for 2.4 i wanted to buy a used starter out of a grand am but its a automatice and mines a 5 speed.

Well Nick if its for the 98 under your profile, GM is showing the same part number for the starter on a 98 2.4 ltr grandam, so i would say it should match up.
