o2 sensor question
Sunday, March 04, 2007 8:01 AM
has anyone used a cheap o2 sensor from ebay? they are about 20 bucks and it made by bosh and has the one wire with conector. sounds good except they arent heated sensors. in the haynes manual it says both sensors are heated. heat speed up the sensor reading time to get more accuate readings.
should i get one and if so will my car read a little slower till it warms up?
thanks

i have a 98 cav 2.4 as well and that info is incorrect, your upper o2 is the single wire,non-heated and the lower is the heated o2 with the 4 wire, I believe that is what the Chilton's manual says,,I was looking into this same thing awile ago,I called the Chevy dealer to find out what years were compatible for the o2 sensors as far as the cat. o2 ,although I forgot what they told me and Bosch brand will work fine but AC Delco is better

which is the upper and which is the lower? i pretty dam sure i need the one after the cat, cause after a put a new exhaust on they told me they butcher mine and a half hour later the CEL went on. has nothing to do with the one in the manifold.
i did check the wire diagram in the back of my book.
post converter heated O2sensor four wires, pre converter o2 one wire, but in the instalation part said both are heated.
so your right so i guess ill keep looking for one cause a new one is 150 bucks up here and im going turbo soon and im burning alot of fuel.

The best thing to do is crawl under there and look....that way you won't be wrong.

I have heard nothing but problems with Bosch O2 sensor and GM cars. They tend to burn out really fast. Shop around. I have a Delco parts dealer in town who is not a dealership, and I got mine for $44.

Usually if a CEL is tripped, it is the O2 sensor after the cat.
