I just got my 94 Sunbird LE 2.0 5 speed on Monday. I have a few questions that maybe some of the people here can help me solve or point me into the corret direction so maybe I can get some of the quirks worked out in her

(1) The dealer replaced the water pump/thermo/thermo cap/timing belt/tensionor and the spring loaded pulley/front struts/front wheel bearings/ and the tie rods on my car before I picked it up. My car hardly ever gets to the half way mark and when it does its not there for very long, I recall my sunbird 2.0 auto convertible from years ago always stayed around the half way mark or a little above it with only 93k on it in Oklahoma and Arizona. I know that I must have fan issues as mine comes on as soon as the car is started I just need to chase that down now, could the fan along with the new parts be keeping it that cool tho?

(2) Very Hugh lack of power! I know that my auto 2.0 didn’t have any power at all, but the 5 speed isn’t very far from the same as my auto was. Of course I have driven almost all v6’s since I had my 2.0 auto sunbird. What’s good city cruising speeds in gears for my car and what’s the max I should shift hr at as well. I have a lack of a tach in my car due to the fact she is a 2.0. I already added the open air intake and it helped a little, but nothing like it did on my GA

(3) I know the abs sounds from all the other GM cars that I have had thru the years, but when I kill my bird it makes a sound like the loud click from the abs from under the hood. I know it does it on start up but never heard one do it when you kill it, maybe its something else any ideals on this one?

(4) This is the major thing I have that has me worried for right now “smoke from the dash vent by the factory radio” at times white smoke comes from this vent and only this vent, and of course it does smell like the rubber from wires…. I am not sure if it’s the radio or the heat and ac system as I seem to always have both going when I notice this. I am going to go rip the dash apart after posting this and hope to find the issue there.

I love the little sunbird, it was such a great buy for the money and it’s going to be my fun summer car. It’s a white one 2 door with the spoiler and the chrome spoke hubcap covers. I have a extra set of my GA rims I am going to put on the sunbird, same style as the hubcap but they are just the gray spoke laced ones.

Oh yeah I have the wonderful gorilla inspired tape player in my sunbird also, but want the factory cd player, how much of a chance am I going to have at never finding one? I have seen the write ups on the cavalier cluster swaps, but haven’t found any on the birds, I want the tach “v6 cluster” do I need to find one for a 94 5 speed also? And I know I will need to change the sensor for my oil psi to work right any other things I will need to change or swap out?
