Pacesetter flange (donut) bolts and another ?
Tuesday, March 28, 2006 8:13 PM
Hi, I have my header for almost a complete year now and I can't be happier with it. But today I was doing some "inspections" on my car. Mainly because I think that I have an exhaust leak somewhere and also because I had 2 dtc's One that it come back once a while (P0455 - Evap Large leak). But then when I checked the codes with the tech2 and I found that I also have a P0300 (general misfire).... The car is 1 year and a month old.. so it's annoying me. I'll have to see if it come back. If yes it will take a trip to the dealer!! Anyway my main question is about the flange nut on the header (donut). I tried to tight them a little to see if the leak was coming from there and then :

I know the winter is hard on the cars here but it's installed for only 1 year..... Do I need to tighten the nuts so the springs are fully compressed??? My install guide is lost somewhere and didn't found while searching (maybe the wrong keywords...)

The other question was the torque spec of the front strut mount but I'll ask again if I don't find it!! Thanks!

What part of the strut mount? The three top bolts? Its 18ft lbs according to GM.
And yes the springs should be almost completely compressed. I used the tapered style springs from the chevy mini-vans for mine as they are longer and have larger coils.
Larger coils = greater clamping force = no leaks!

Good luck

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
