I've been a member here for a while. I'm trying to help the newbies out a little. Everyone asks about mufflers and exhausts. They ask if their muffler and exhaust will sound ricey, honda-ish, weed whacker, bumble bee, etc.
This is what I assume. When I got my Weapon-R muffler it had a silencer with it. That made it sound like a weed whacker. I'm assuming that the constriction at the end of the muffler is what makes the buzzy sound. So what I think is that a good flowing exhaust won't sound buzzy. An exhaust without constrictions.
Another factor in the buzzing is this, if there is any piece of metal sticking into the exhaust flow there will be a buzzing sound. And that comes from the exhaust flow rushing over that tiny piece of metal.
I had that problem when I first put my muffler on. My brother in law and I took turns cutting through the stainless steel of my exhaust with a 5" hand hacksaw. It took so long that we finally got it cut through enought to bend the pipe back and forth till it broke off. I no longer have that problem since I finished my exhaust.
Hopefully this'll help out some of the newbies.
Another thing I just thought of, a mandrel bent system should virtually have no buzz compared to a compression bent exhaust!
You're sort of on the right track but your theory is backwards. The more restrictions, the less noise. When I say restrictions, I mean, the smaller the system, the less you will hear. The more you open up your exhaust system, the louder it will be. Basically, when it comes down to exhaust systems, sound is determined by:
1. Exhaust system diameter size
2. Whether you have an catalytic converter or not
3. Whether you have an resonator and if you have one, how many you have and what size it is.
4. What type of muffler you have
Overall...the bigger an exhaust and less restrictions, the louder it will be.
As far as the Weapon-R muffler with the silencer in it sounding buzzy, that's because it's a poor way of trying to reduce noise from your muffler and exhaust system overall. It's like this for example: You're driving down a highway with the window open completely and you have loud wind blowing into the car. The silencer is kind of like you raising the window 1/2 way up...yes it will sound lower in sound but it doesn't get rid of the fact that you have loud winds.
Hopefully that makes sense...

Yeah I understand what you're saying Adam. I was trying to touch in the questions about exhaust being buzzy and etc. I know that the exhaust will be louder with less restriction. I know my car is definitely louder. You can hear it blocks away when it's being accelerated hard!
But thanks for clarifying for anyone that might be confused!
As always

rules!!
if you want to get rid of buzzy add a big resonator, its that simple
^^^ What he said any good set up will have a resonator. Mandrel bent is great but most will say including myself not nessassary. YOu may just gain about 1-2HP just from a Mandrel bend.
