hey yawl, i got a fairly large tax return(5,280). what should i get first for my sunfire.?
what do you want out of your sunfire?
Volumeking333(Ryan) wrote:what do you want out of your sunfire?
Exactly. What do you want to achieve, what are your goals? Performance? Show? With respect to that, remember, show cars don't win races and race cars don't win car shows.

Blown.
wow, really jelous of that tax return, well like said above, deside what you want most.........performance, show, sound system and then go from there.

I have one true love in my life...And my girlfriend sits next to me in it
Easy, you take that money and open an account and keep that money. It ain't worth it.
keep it and use it as a nice deposit on a house. Yeah it's fun to modify your car but once that money is in your car, it's gone. Since you have that amount of money, put it on something usefull. If you want to modify your car, do it with left overs.

I have a separate savings account just for mods
Some times the best way to get that tailgater off your but is to light a fart.
your profile says u have 2 kids, why not put it in a savings account for them for college?
save it for a rainy day

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Your profile also says your goin for more looks, so get a nice set of wheels. 17's or 18's, and drop it a little bit with a nice suspension setup. Koni's and Eibach springs, or somthing like that. It's your car and your personality is going to play a role in how you want it to turn out, so the wheels and drop are just a basic start for it to start lookin modded. Good luck with it though.
Im sorry I know you are from south (so am I) but it is you all.
I agree with a couple of the above statements, but get the best of both worlds, put some up and spend a little. Get a nice set of wheels and tires, spring/ strut combo, exhaust, intake, motor mounts, & crank pulley. With that setup you will have a clean looking Sunfire with a small amout of pep. BEST OF ALL WORLDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as where to get these things, you can check the classifieds or the following:

honestly, with that kind of cash, assuming the car was stock....id get..intake, catback, NX wet kit, springs and struts......either koni, and eibach, or H&R and AGX, wheels and tires. then save the rest. if you want to go a little more extreme, make that catback into a header and full exhaust, motor mounts, and short shifter (if you got a 5 spd), and a set of anti sway bars. then you'll have a good mix of performance and handling, with a drop and rims for looks too

I'd say save it. Honestly, sometimes I wish I wouldn't have done anything to my car... when all is said and done, it's a cavalier and in your case a sunfire. In my opinion after spending lots of money on my car I have come to realize that it wasn't really worth it. Sure it's fun to get new parts and "enhance" your car, but I wish I would have saved my money and waited until I could get something nicer. So I say save it. My opinion.
Come on dude, your married and have kids. . .go on vacation or somethin. . itll be way better than anything for your car. maybe get somethin small fo it, but if you really have to and want to spend it, why not go to Disneyworld or something.
Hey Newbies; Dont Search Ebay, i got what you need right here
Either save your money or have a plan on how you want to spend it logically. Don't do what most young people do is splurg cause you'll end up with nothing in the end.

Also guys he came on here looking for support on a j-body enthusist site on some modifications for his Sunfire, not financial advice.
For the "in the end its just a cavy or sunfire" comment??? Yes it may be "just a cav" but for some people it is a hobby, a passion, an art, not just a way to spend money. You say you want something different/ better, why, if you feel this way about your cavy you will surely start to feel that way about whatever you get.

first off that means your paying too much in taxes, to begin with
second wasting that much money on parts in one lump sum is just stupid
paydown the mortage, go on vacation, college fund, or bigger boobs for the wife

I agree with this statement too. I live to modify, but also that is hell of alot of money to throw at your car at once. How I modify is I set a goal like say my bodykit. And I save 200-300 a paycheck until I can get it. Or have a single mod I want to do and do it and save the rest of my money until I decide what I wanna do next.

ok. . so living in a box on the corner will not be a problem as long as you have a body kit on your car?? you cant enjoy the hobby if you go broke and dont have a car.
Now if he is all saved up and dont really care about this money and wants to spend it, then get a body kit. that should be good to cover everything from the kit to the paint.

How old are the kids? Disney has a special for 2 adults and 2 kids a weeks stay at the Disney resort and passes for $1500.00. Figure another $1000.00 for food and stuff and you have an awesome vacation and suddlenly your the best Dad in the world! And wifie
looks at it as a great thing your doing for the family, so then when you want your new rims shes less likly to object.

Im pretty sure with him having 2 kids and a wife he has a house. I didnt say put the car before his family and home.
If youp look up a couple of posts you will see that I mentioned put some up and spend a little. The stuff I listed is $2000 tops, that leaves another 3k to put up or go on vacation or whatever. It is not our place to tell how to run his life. He asked what he should buy for his car. Answer the question at hand.

Right on the money. No pun intended.
I'm only getting $500 some back. Little tattoo work, little Cavy work, little savings and *POOF* no more tax return.
