I picked up my 01 sunfire on friday, and the display on the cd player is dead. The dealer has parts cars and has offered to switch it for me.
But the question is, if the 01's stereos are locked to the VIN on the BCU, will this work?
Thanks for helping out a newbie.
is the dealer a GM dealer, or just a used car place?
Tell them nevermind about the stock radio and get yourself an aftermarket and then use the link to guide you in installing it yourself.

BTW, welcome to JBO!
the guy is a used car dealer. And I unfortunately cannot go the after-market route as I have no spare cash at the moment. I listen to my Nano 99% of the time and do not really care if it is a stock system or not.
Thanks for the help so far.
i'll assume the radio is from another GM and is the same radio as what came in your sunfire...if thats the case, it'll need to be reset. i know that a GM dealer can do this, but it costs money (someone here probably knows how much). i doubt a used car dealership can reset it, but you can ask. make sure they know that it needs to be redone, and IF they say they can do it, don't drive off the lot utnil you know it works and doesn't mess anything else up.
GO PATS!!!
