i have a pair of white face guages for a 1997 cavalier and dont like that big black box/swich that allows you to adjust the color/lighting. when installing this can i snip the wires and rewire the white face guages with the oem lighting switch or do i have to use that black box and mount it some where in my car, which is what i dont want though??? I just want to set it perm. to blue lighting at the highest lighting output w/o that aftermarket switch..

you need the transformer, otherwise you might fry the gauges

for the ground you should be able to go to any grounded bolt under the dash. and for the power i got a fuse connector(not sure of proper name) but looks like a fuse but you can connect the wire to it an put it in your fuse box to something that has ignition power. thats how mine has been wired for 4+ years with no issues
