I'm looking into a new cavalier, i wanted to know what the differences were between the ls and the ls sport. Please?
LS Sport has more options. Exterior wise, the difference is the lip kit and you get chrome wheels. Also, the LS Sports have ABS and all the safety features, some have the option of cruise control, I think the newer cavaliers have the MP3 player option and basically power everything. Because of the extra options, they usually weight more than the base models.
The base models of course have less features...has hub caps, slightly higher in suspension height, no lip kit, might not have ABS, power doors/locks is an option, and usually has a very generic music player. I have a friend with a 2005 Base Model Cavalier that came with just an AM/FM radio, no CD player. Of course, because of the less options, they weight less than the LS Sports.

don't forget the factory foglights... and if you are looking at 02's, the ls sport has the eco whereas the ls has the 2.2 ohv. also, the spoiler is different on the 02 ls sports. (03+ i believe the spoiler is the same)

for the spoiler the 02 ls sport has the same spoiler as the 00-02 Z24s and the ls has the 95-99 Z24 spoiler.

you guys forgot the 19mm rear sway bar the LS sport and older z24 and gt fires have. ls sport also has better seats..at least than the base model. 16 inch alloy wheels. power everything. miine even came with XM radio...but i believe that was dealer installed.

Say I went out and bought an 02 LS Sport, would my 03 mods work on it? (Intake and exhaust) Also, is the transmission the same as the 03+? Suspension in the 02 LS Sport > 03 base sedan?

The exhaust would fit exactly the same...the intake probably wouldn't. I believe the TBs or manifolds are slightly higher so if you tried to use an 03+ ECOTEC intake it would rub your hood (more than likely).
2000+ J-Bodies all have Getrag Transmissions if they are 5 speeds, 1995+ 4 speeds are all 4T40E transmissions.
The 02 LS Sport has the front sway bar, 03 base model sedan doesn't...so yes.

Well, you need to specify that. Was the LS Sport even around in 2002, because I know they were selling the Eco powered cars as Z24s in Canada.

^^^^^^ its called the LS sport in the US but in canada its called the Z24 from 95-05, it just easyer for me to call mine an LS sport because people are like "there is no such thing as an 05 Z24" or they stopped the Z24 in 01 its LS sport now" then i have to explain it and that got old after the first 10 times so now mines an LS sport

The LS Sport also has bigger front sway bar and the bushings are also different ( stiffer )
And regular LS cars did come with ABS as well, mine has it and its just an LS....NO sport. The rest is cosmetic.

My friend has a 2005 Base Model...I've seen his brakes lock up and his tires smoke up like crazy. No ABS.

GM got rid of it in either 04 or 05 in order to reduce the price of the Cavalier and Sunfire, it was still available as an option, but no longer standard.
