Dumb Question, but I don't know the answer
Sunday, January 22, 2006 8:03 PM
If I take my car to the drag strip do I need motor mounts? Will I hurt any part of the car if I dont have motor mounts?
Sorry to waste your time but I couldn't find the answer in the perfrmance FAQ.

if you can drive it to the track you can run it at the track pretty much

however if you have like 350hp or something crazy like that and hit it on slicks on a sticky patch I'm sure something would give

You already have motor mounts, that's how your motor is in your engine bay now LOL j/k

Just playing...aftermarket motor mounts just keep your motor still in your engine bay. Your stock ones let your motor move around when accelerating. With aftermarket ones, you keep it still which will help on throttle response slightly and also if you have a header, it would keep it from hitting your firewall and/or keeping your exhaust stiffer and keeping it from moving around.

Of course, it's nothing that is a "must have".

if you had no motor mounts you would know. but like adam said, no you didnt need any kind of aftermarket motor mounts to run at the track. on the other hand if you have shaved door handles, some tracks wont let you run

well, there are "some" must haves that are general safety rules.

most require that if you have nitrous, its "professionally" installed and doesn't look ghetto rigged. just tell them its been done by a pro

also you need good looking tires (no baldness or nails or anything)

and you also need to have all your lug nuts on your wheels.

besides that, as long as your car looks fine, you should be ok.

as long as you have all of them. best case is go to the auto parts store and in the parts dept as them if they carry lug nuts. i bought two individually for 99 cents each.
