Newbie question about filter????
Friday, January 20, 2006 8:59 PM
Ok, I know alot about gm parts, i've worked for GM selling parts for 5 years.
So my new-b question is............I have an '03 ecotec, and have seen pictures of little circular filters that are comming off of the valve cover, in the pcv area. (normally there is a hose there for crankcase breather) Anyway, where can i get one, how mutch, any gains??? Please explain.

Thank's in advance!!!!!

Not sure if there are any gains from doing that.

I would say contact Aaron at Turbo Tech Racing and he can help you with part #s and supplying you the actual part. (aaron@turbotechracing.com)

I doubt there would be any gains, and I know where I live you can get a ticket if you have that filter insted of the hose......just a thought

and actually there was one time I was pulled over and they went to the trouble of looking under my hood and that was one of the things he checked.

Sometimes....Like winter.........Besides i dont really like the look of those filters anyways, well doesnt make a difference too me, and there is no way it does anything for your car.....there for there really should be no reason for not being allowed to have it.

But We'll see who 'sucks' in about a month when the Olympic Hockey starts......assimg you care about hockey, hey its all we got, hockey, baccon and beer!

U.S.A always gets all the other medals anyways

You guys and your hockey...

I've been pulled over and searched unfortunately but they never checked under my hood.

And thanks for the official Canadian slang correction

BTW, I'm more than likely going to the Canadian Bash so if you go, you'll see me there. Just look for the big black guy with dreads...can't miss me...especially in Canada LOL

Yeah that's the one.

The misconception about the bashes is that you have to have some type of top class show car or 12 second track car to be there...even if your car is stock, just come. It's about being an enthusiest...that's all that matters. You should have seen me when I went to the 2004 bash, my car looked terrible and I ran 16s but I had SOO much fun.

the hose recirculates fumes back through the intake to be reburned. if you put a breather filter on all it does is doesn't put the fumes back through the system.

and you can get a breather filter at any parts store.

I assume this is about the hose between the valve cover and the air intake, right? If it is, is there a way to stop oil from getting into the intake besides blocking it off? Most parts stores around here have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask for a oil catch can, and one guy told me the only reason I would get oil in the intake was if the pcv was bad. Anyone know if that's true?
