Just got 2000 Z24

Hello all I'm new here and about a week ago I got my new daily driver 2000 Z24 5spd, power everything except seats, Gold with Tan interior. I lucked up as the previous owner had installed a 4-1 header and cat back exhaust and man this car moves out. I have plans to max it out as a daily driver starting with the suspension so I would like your input on my plans. I have a B&M plate style engine oil cooler that I'm going to install this weekend along with Autometer oil pressure & temp gauges. Today I ordered the upper/lower poly engine mounts, poly trans mounts, poly control arm bushings, offset camber bolts and subframe brace from RK Sport & JTuner's. Next I'm going to get some 2"x2" tubing and have real subframe connectors welded in then I'll get Tokico struts and Ground Control coilovers along with front & rear strut braces. After that I want the 26mm front & 22 mm rear sway bars and either 17" or 18" rims (which are better on a lowered Z24?) and tires ( will 235x40x17 or 18's fit?) Finally 13" front & 12" rear disc brakes.
As for the engine I'll buy a 2.4 core to build a new engine but port & polish the head add Secret cams and the 2.3 HO cast intake with adapter to my current setup, I'd also like to add a 70mm tb (will any from other cars work ?) Then with the other one I'll add forged H-beam rods, forged 9.5:1 pistons, a forged crank if I can find one a 2.3 HO head ported of course and a turbo/intercooler 15psi with water/meth injection.
Body wise RK Sport Jbody kit, Prostock wing and SS hood.

Welcome, I think it all sounds good. You might want to lower that Compression if you wanna run 15psi.. Remember stock CR for the Z is 9.5:1 You might want to try 9:1 or even 8.5:1 GOod luck with everything, sounds like you have a nice plan.

I must say i am impressed though because he does know what he is talking about. Looks like he looked into a lot of parts, i just wish all would do that.

Actually for his car its 9.7:1 stock 9.5:1 was 96-98.

A Couple things...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you put the 2.3 Head on a 2.4 it will actually raise the compression, so I think that in that case, no need to do that. Just get your current cylinder head ported and upgrade the valvetrain parts and you'll be fine.

Check with Tokico or in the suspension forum the most they can be dropped with a warranty under it. If it's warrantied to a certain drop, don't go pass it because more than likely it can't handle such a drop.

9:1 compression would be fine and easier for you to tune. 15 PSI...do you know what kind of turbo you are trying to do 15 PSI with?

Brakes, I would suggest the Wilwoods Big Brake kit for the front and the RK Sport rear disk conversion...very expensive to do both so good luck with that.

If you want 17s, a 215/45R17 Tire would be fine, not too low profile but enough meat to protect your rims with potholes etc. Yes, you can fit 18 inch rims on your...there are people who are running 19" on slighly lowered J-bodies, but of course, skinny tires.

70 MM? The only way you'll be able to fit such a big throttle body is if you can get an adapter plate (custom made of course) to fit on your intake manifold and the throttle body would be able to use the same sensors you have as well. Also, you could have the biggest throttle body in the world on boost, it won't do you any good if you still have a restrictive manifold. Granted, you want the HO Manifold, in stock form, I don't think it would be able to flow to your expectations with a huge throttle body like that unless you have it ported out.

Well Dale, good luck with everything...it's gonna be ALOT of money spent on your ride, I hope you have a good job

If you need anymore help, just ask.
