My cousin got me a muffler with a 3 inch inlet. I was wondering if that would go on the stock piping or do i need to get a new pipe for it?
A shop could make it fir for you I believe, but you might as well get the shop to make up some new piping for you 2&1/4" no bigger if N/A and get a gain in power whiole your at it.......a muffler alone will do nothing. just a thought

I mean, a good welder can make it somehow fit but it would probably look odd and it would probably be more headache for the welder.
If I were you, I'd sell the muffler and buy a properly sized muffler that you I liked. That's just me.

Not to jack this, but a 2.25" muffler on the stock 2" pipes would be no problem for a shop to install, right?

Having a bigger muffler wont do @!#$ but waste money. Unless theres a reason for it, like say you added stuff to make more power, your just wasting money.

That is true but not everyone wants a muffler for performance...some just like the sound of a bit louder vehicle.

Yup, The King got it exactly right. I have a Dynomax UltraFlo S.S. from my old car and figured I might as well put it on the Cav. I'm not expecting to break any land speed records, just want a lower, more aggressive exhaust note. But thank you Rob S for your concern.

The stock exhaust is smaller then 2". not sure exactly what size it is but I am pretty sure it is smaller then 2"

^^^^ yeah, it is 1 7/8. The exhaust shop will have an adaptor that will expand from 2 inches (thatll prob be the closest theyll have) to 3 inches. I gree thoguh, probably for 75 bucks more, they can bend you a catback pipe and youll gain another few hp....better to walk the walk as well as talk the talk, yes?
