well.. i have a 2001 z24 2.4 and i would like 2 get about 350 to 400 hp. I don't know how much hp i have right now i only have a exhaust so its like all stock so i just would just like to know if this can be done and what i need to do?
thanks
where is a town dog? I think about 15 to 20k in motor and others can get you 400hp. Look in the boost forum or look in my registry. My motor isn't even built yet and I have 11k in my car.
01 Z24 Turbo /// First Reflashed Turbo AUTO MMMM YUMMY
You'll need to do alot of motor work building up the internals and then boosting the hell out of that thing. It'll run you a pretty penny and its not easy to do so start reading in the performance and boost forums. To reach any high hp number you need to do research so this won't be a quick project for you.
Just to add, there aren't alot of cars on here running 400hp, in fact, I can't think of ONE car putting down 400whp.

Blown.
Sorry, no edit button, but I forgot to add a couple things. You'll need to upgrade or build up your suspension, brakes, and tranny to be able to handle that kind of power.

Blown.
Nice goal and all but there is more to having 400 hp than just turbo and a motor work...
Your transmission has to handle that amount of power, your axles have to be able to take that amount of power...if not...snap they go, you have to have good enough tires so you're not just sitting there peeling out and on top of that you would need an LSD.
Most importantly, you'd have to a have lots of time on a dyno for some good tuning.
You'd have a monster but you'd be spending alot of money...enough to question if you want to do that to a Cavalier.

I only can think of two cars close to that...
Karo (I have NO idea on the ungodly amount of $$$ in that car) and Mike in Winterpeg (and he's not even run the car on the dyno yet... so it's unproven)
Oh, and Mike in Saskatchewan's old car (now parted out).. cost an arm and a leg.
There's a couple who'd be close... but 400hp in a daily driver is going to cost you WAY more than you've got. Trust me.
if you want cheap power, buy a V8.
Damn quotes...

the question is do u really need that much power hell have u even been in a 300+hp car? is this your daily driver if so how are u going to make time to do the swap. if i was just don't look for 350hp-400hp look closer to 250hp-290hp the easyest way to get to that is turbo your 2.4 but before u even think about turboing it read alot before even thinking of doing it.
sure its a nice target to shoot for but its not realistic. im not saying it cant be done but to me its really not worth it. you could get a different car and put 1/2 the money you would into a cav and probably hit your goal.
Ok everyone thanks. It don't look like i will be doing that. Well i want to take this trans am to a track and race him I think its a 01 but i wanna bet him so that is why i was asking. It sounds like a lot of hard work.
^^ where are you from, for some reason that car looks really familiar like something by my old house? i see the pa tags thats why im just curious.
it is possible to beat a trans am but just figure the amount of money you spend to keep up w/ him, he can spend 1/4 of that and just beat you again
400 horses in a daily driver is easy. It just won't be a Cavalier thats all. Try a nice Camaro or Mustang matbe even a Vette.

Give me by the end of 2006 and I'll show you a 400 HP Sunfire...does that count?

you cant pass karos car off as yours
^^^^ why don't you go attempt to fix your car again and almost catch it on fire lol

Why you trying to pass Karo's car off as yours ? I thought you were going turbo anyway
so you'll be around what low to mid 200 range ? Should still be fun and you won't be shopping for axles evey other week.

Mike made that Karo thing up.
Maybe not 400s but 300-350 range is my ultimate goal. I am going turbo, no all motor here.

Who said I was staying with stock rods forever? Why do you think I said "give me till the end of 2006". I'll probably have it done by mid-2006 though.
