Sup!first of all let me start by saying i have loved the 95 newer cavaliers scince they came out.I am 29 years old and have been modding sport compacts for about 5 years now.Befor i had a chance to by a cavalier, the dsm bug hit me.I mean who whouldnt love a factory 200 hp turbo car lol.But the last few years if wanted something newer to mod.Ive been reading the forums alot in here, and been thinking about selling the 92 talon and start modding a j body. The only problem i have is power.I need at least 200 daily hp.Just what im used to.Do you guys think its worth the time and effort making a cavalier as fast as my Talon or jus stick with my dsm?Oh also with my Eagle, theres no speed governer hehe.thanks guys!
Yes, I believe so. If you buy an newer car with an ECOTEC motor, invest a few thousand dollars into a turbo kit and you will have yourself a high-mid 13 second car with a ton of torque and you'll be flying past some of those stock turbo DSMs (GS-Ts especially). Also, Cavaliers are lighter as well.

cavaliers get you laid because they're domestic...
plus they are 'uber sexay'
Yea.To all that may not know dsms are domestic. They were made in Normal Il.i have $2500 in my dsm and about 200 hp.Cant do that with a Cavalier. But love the style. If found a few under $2000.At least its a start.found a 99 z24 2.2 for $2000.Also,might be able to beat a stock dsm but im used to 400 hp daily drivers.i know ill never see that with a Cavalier.but 200 to 250hp should do me.if been looking in the boost forums but none realy state the best kit.
kits is no good build your own for the best power.
Yea i learned that when i built my 96 non turbo eclipse to a turbo, that build your own is better. I was jus curious if any actuall kits for cavaliers are any good. i want a mitsu turbo on the cavi .Jus kinda partial to them.Im tryin to sell my 92 tsi .If i do ,i might be joinin you guys lol.Id apreciate all the help i can get.Im not a ricer and hate body kits n such.I believe in performance befor looks.Hope to be talking to you all on a regular basis soon!
Hahn racecraft makes a decent turbo kit for the eco.
Also I think Jtuners.com is the only company with a tubular manifold in a kit right now too.

Like our JBO Negro stated, if you pick up a Cavalier or Sunfire with the Ecotec engine and slap on a turbo you'll be seeing some great numbers. Do a search for the memeber "Hypsy", he's seeing some awesome times (12 second runs) with a practically stock internal Ecotec motor. He's running the Hahn Racecraft kit which is one of the best (and one of the only kits) for the Ecotec. Check out their site at
www.hahnracecraft.com .
Now before anyone posts saying that the Eco motor is not the best, that is not what I'm saying. I was simply stating how an Eco motor would be a great choice.

Blown.
i would personally stay w/ the dsm because atleast it holds its value down the road
Have alot of props to hahn. When i was a 2gnt eclipse they gave me alot of help.
no one else said it so i have to

get a z24 and put a w41 engine in it..190hp. N/A..thats pretty close to your talon right?

cool! i found a 99 z24..ill check into that!
if youve got a 99..and its a manuel...all youll need is the engine, pcm and wiring...the old quads go pretty cheap...unless your looking into high boost..then you might want to take another route

Cool.jJust looking to get about 200 250 daily hp.Got any good swap/performance links?.Im looking through the forums right now.
links? best thing you can do on this site is just search around ..its been discussed and argued out the wazoo...basic info to know to help you out
quad HighOutput = 180hp
quad W41 = 190hp
only difference between the two are the cams (which are interchangable) then youll just need bolt ons from there

That's purely opinion...not fact. If you find a good kit, than it doesn't make a difference. People usually build their own for the following reasons:
1. Save money
2. They like to pick what parts they want to use

metro sexual lovin...thats what..
oh and pokin fun of beaners..
well IMO the two best cavaliers to modify are as follows
2000-2002 Z24 because of the GM supercharger and ECU reflash
2002-2005 Cavalier because of the Ecotec engine, they can put down some pretty nice numbers with boost, but the ECU's are pretty stuck in there ways.

Thanks all!I might jus keep the tsi and build a cavalier.Im going on info overload!lol
welp heres my .o2
keep the talon, i loved my cavi however your going more performance wise. like stated above the hahn kit on an eco is putting out some extremly nice numbers 12.8 to my last record. all stock internals. however a fully built tsi will get you lower last i knew a person i knew (not a friend i actually hated the kid) was runnin 10 sec passes on his tsi however he went through 3 motors to get that set up then sold it shortly after to buy a evo. basically it all comes down to do you not mind a @!#$ty interior cracked dash for a possible decent timed car ? sure you can get a 99z for around 4 grand but what can the tsi get for 4 g's ???

i know ya do

most of my posts are on interior and 3rd gen...but i have to give my 02 in performance

which usually i recommend the eco for boost and the quad for NA and the 3800 for the best for those who really want power
