No.
Use power steering oil for the power steering and Trans oil for the trans.

This is an old trick to stop a leak. When you buy power steering stop leak what do you think is added to it to stop the leak? The same additive in trans fluid that helps swell the seals and prevents it from leaking as easily.
In short YES you can use it. In fact some cars actualy use GM auto trans fluid as their
the power steering fluid from the factory. It won't hurt anything, helps stop leaks, and costs much less.

The old pickup trucks and my jeep i had I used tranny fluid for power steering fluid.

i did this with a 99 cavalier sedan, steering rack is going. it worked great no leaks for like 3 weeks now.

Glad to hear it Stolen. Has it stopped your leak totaly or just slowed it way down?
Also can you share any adverse affects that some people may have in their minds.
Sometimes haveing a seperate person give testamony can help others make up thier minds.

I changed my PS fluid and used DexronIII. Works fine and no problems.

No - My odometer had just rolled over 100,000 miles and I wanted to get rid of the old brown fluid. Now it is nice and red!
my 89 cavy came stock with transmission fluid in the power steering.
Well Max it would seem you have your answer. Where PS fluid is what belons there
tranny fluid won't hurt a thing.

Alright , i was just wondering cuz i'm kinda low on PS fluid. And i got some in the garage and was told that i could but didn't believe that person.
I dont have any leaks or anything but i might just put a little in to top it off??!!??

your prolly thinking brake fuild and cluth fuild there the same
I have atf in my power steering right now.I havent had any problems so far.Bmw's use atf as power steering fluid also.
