car and engine: 99 2.4
in another thread(performance) i made about the problems im having getting the after cat O2 sensor off the car due to alot of rust, and the PB Blaster wont even work, im planning on getting another sensor to plug into the original one thats stuck; plug the new sensor onto my hi-flo catco, when i connect it to my custom back pipe in the future. so basically i'll have my stock cat with the old O2 sensor already there in case i would switch everything back to stock form.
i was gonna ask this in maintenance but its nonetheless a newbie question from me about the after cat O2 sensor. a few questions:
1-Should i avoid using any sort of other brand sensors, like Bosch and other "Universal" sensors and stick with the OEM like Walker or Denso?
2-i understand parts from the 2200 and 2.4 are different, but is the O2 sensor from the 2200 interchangeable with the 2.4?
3-as a lst resort, i could buy a 'Universal' O2 sensor, would i need to do the O2 sim method?
thanks again for the help guys/gals let me know if im not being clear in my statements and questions
DONT BUY BOSCH!. It causes more problems in our cats then it fixs.
1996 Sunfire GT w/2.4, 4 spd. auto. I changed out the stock O2 sensor with a Bosch replacement w/o problem 2 months ago. It was the original and unbelievably rusted. It took multiple tries with PB blaster & oxy-acetylene torch (heat the bung cherry red) until it could be removed. For every 1/8 turn out, I would spray in more PB blaster and thread the sensor back in 1/2 of the turn out until finally removed. Also, use a tight fitting O2 sensor wrench (luckily I had a Snap-On handy). You may also have to chase the bung threads which I believe are 18MM. Be sure too tighten the new O2 sensor fully until it contacts the bung surface. Be patient and good luck.
Clarification: AC Delco was the original O2 sensor and Bosch was the replacement.
oxy-acetylene torch, hmm i dont have access to one of those :\
DONT USE BOSCH..BEWARE BEWARE DANGER WILL ROBINSON
FACT : Statistics show that you are more likely to to be hit by lightning than to die street racing.
ok i got the 'stop dont use bosch!" lol what about my other questions? could anyone answer them please?

and i just noticed i had a warning

any idea what that meant?
meant to update your profile which I see is up to date. I wouldnt worry bout it
A small mapp gas torch may work. I personally never had problems with Bosch replacement parts when installed correctly. Good luck.
