Hello all,
First post and definately a newb, so be gently.
I recently purchased a set of Silverstars to change out my highs and lows, and ordered a set of Nokya 881 replacement bulbs for my fogs, and now I have a question.
I noticed on the side of the Nokya box that they recommend a new wiring harness and that the bulbs I ordered came as "Stage 2."
I've read other posts about Nokya bulbs getting hot and melting the harnesses and such.
Is this a concern with the 881 Stage 2 fog lights also, or mainly their high and low beam replacements?
If the Nokya's I currently have require a new wiring harness, could you guys/gals possible suggest a different brand fog light bulb that will match up with the Silverstars in light output appearance that don't require a new harness?
Thanks,
Rez
A new harness only costs $20 if that.
Hello
El Fuego: I appreciate the reply, but, sadly, it didn't answer any of my questions.
I mainly want to know if those bulbs, Nokya Stage 2 881 (27watts), will work as a direct replacement for my old bulbs without setting my car on fire.
The packaging only says a new harness is recommended, not required.
Since I personally don't have experience with these type of bulbs, I was asking for info from someone that does.
Again, thanks for the reply, just not the info I was looking for.

If they are 27 Watt bulbs, you should be fine. I ran the 37.5 Watt bulbs for several years and had no problems. Most people that are melting their fog lights, tried the 55W bulbs in them. I doubt anyone here can give you a 100% yes or no answer on this. There are some people that have run the 55W bulbs and never had a problem, yet there are those that ran the 55W bulbs who melted their lights within a day or two.
Thanks for the reply,
I had a feeling they would be OK considering they were 27watts and the same exact bulb number, but I wanted a second opinion.
I'll go ahead and make sure to keep an eye on them for a few weeks after they are installed just to be safe.
Much appreciated,
Rez
I have Sylvania 886 Halogen bulbs in mine and have for 6 years with no problems. They are bright and I have seen no melting of the housing or the wire harness.

i have the 886 sylvania halogen bulbs, nothing yet after 2 months, although i somewhat misaligned the passenger side and now no matter if i adjust it up or down i cant seem to find the spot that matches the driver's side....odd, havent the time to unbolt it completely to check why its not showing the same alignment as the driver side though. but getting back on topic, i have the 886 bulbs and its still burning bright.
ok just yesterday when i posted the previous thread above, when i had to take the car out at night, my fogs just wont turn on

i havent the chance to check the fuse for them yet, but that was weird. i can hear it click on when i turn the switch on and off but nothing's coming on....weird.
