trying to figure out how i can disengage the rev limiter that kicks in when the vehicle is in park or drive....also with this in mind i am also curious about the sound made when the engine rpms fall because of this rev limiter. i have heard diferent reasons, some being because of backpressure and some because of engine displacement and stroke. basically i am trying to rev higher than 4g in nuetral. any help would be greatly apreciated

not sure, but i think its programmed directly into the pcm and cannot be bypassed without a standalone system or a reprogrammer

i've been looking at my wiring diagram and see that it is somewhat controled by the park neutral switch. honestly dont have a bunch of money to spend. looking for the cheap tricks....lol...just trying to find a way around it is all...the p/n switch is on the transaxle and runs to the pcm. would there be a way to install an inline switch or anything?

reving an auto in park or neutral
My GM service manual says the computer limits the fuel via injector control when in nuetral or park and rpm's exceed 4ooo.
c'mon guys...in an automatic, if you try to be cool and rev while in drive, the car just moves. you have to put it in neutral to rev...that way the ladies know you're there. DUH!
GO PATS!!!
The 4g cap is to keep you from free spinning the engine into oil starvation. AKA you throw a rod. You govn is in the trans.

At least its a newb who asked, if it was someone else, he'd get flamed so bad, he'd get hemaroids.
if you want to race put the left foot on the brake, and right foot on the gas. your rpms are up and let off the brake and let her fly.
maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day
you said let her fly like its gonna take off like a bat outta hell. has he ever said a reason for why he wants the revs raised?

just got a 97 auto. and i was wondering hoe to bypass the governer,if its in the PCM a hendheld programmer will work rite?
Why do you need to go faster than 108mph?

Not to be a dick but you are a dumbass for asking this question. Based on your profile (its empty) you have nothing done to your car. As a result you have no business going over 108 on any track, assuming you can even get that high. Dont be a retard and when you are able to safely go that fast in your car, both driver and vehicle, you will know what to do to go above 108.

And don't be suprised if you try to "trick" the range switch if your electronic tranny tries to shift gears, or if your check engine light comes on.
Going around it is stupid, it's on there for a reason.

I think hes looking for the almighty neutral drop.
if that is the case, do it above 25mph.
My car cuts completely like traction control when you try a neutral drop. don't ask how I know.
you guys realize this is almost a 4 year old thread
