Newb in need of advice

Hey everyone. I just joined the forum and just got my liscence a couple months ago. I drive a 2001 Cavalier. I upgraded my audio and tinted my windows but that's it so far. I want to get an exhaust and found a pace setter catback for 200 bucks. I dont really know to many brands outside of borla and rksports so I was wondering if pacesetter was a good brand? I dont want to get a cheap exhaust and it suck.

Personally i wouldnt go with teh Pacesetter exhaust and most people on here will tell you the same. the only thing worht buying from pacesetter is a header. If you want one of the RKSport exhausts, then buy it from Car Customs because its free shipping. You could also buy a borla muffler or a flowmaster, bring it to an exhaust shop and have them custom bend the piping, and thewn you will have a catback exhaust for cheaper.

Hey Newbies; Dont Search Ebay, i got what you need right here

buy a borla muffler, then have a exhaust shop bend you some pipe. might want to add a resonator in there to cut down on the raspyness/ bumble bee sound. at least 18 inches

Agreed or if you really want to buy a pre-made exhaust system, get a Magnaflow or Borla cat-back system.

Stay away from Pacesetters Cat-back system.

plus the fact that i've seen brand new pacesetter catbacks for cheaper then what you said you can get them for.

best thing to do is buy a muffler and get an exhaust shop to custom bend an exhaust for you.

Thanks guys this really helps. Also I was wondering what advice you can give me on a cold air intake. I was thinking of getting one but I read the sticky about them and now im not sure. I really want to improve my performance so would this be a good way to go?

Intakes are all generally the same

"cold air" as it's usually referred to is an intake system that is routed downwards which can take in cooler air but is longer and has more bends.

short ram, or warm air intake, which generally sits inside the engine bay behind the battery, is shorter but of course, but hangs out in the engine bay which is generally warmer air.

They each net about the same gains. you can go Injen or AEM for your intake but you can always get a cheap e-bay intake and put a K&N filter on it. it's pretty much the same effect.
