105 mph?
Tuesday, September 20, 2005 10:41 PM
Is my speed-o-meter correct? I reached 105 and still pulling and had petal left (not much) and I was not going down hill. All I have done is add short ram filter.

Well, I'm not really getting the question.....

Do you mean why did your engine sort of bog down once you reached around 105?

or

your speedo hit around 105 and you were still pulling past 105 but it stuck there?

or

your were deffinately not going 105 but it said 105?

Answers:

#1-Gm gives most of their cars a Fuel cut off around a certain MPH that they don't believe is safe. On J-bodies it is around 106-109mph.

#2- Pull off your dash and check your gauges to see if they're stuck with some residue or are attached too tightly. Also see if there is something obstructing its projectory.

#3- I'm not really sure about this one, but get your speed sensors replaced that are located near your front left or right brakes. I forget what its actually called but I'm sure someone on here can answer that one.

Also I believe this should be in Maintenance if it were question 2 or 3, if question 1 then it would be discarded as no one will give information on how to disable it!

I was still pulling and could have pressed petal more. Just wondered, what top speed is? I have heard of the shut off on pick-ups, did not know cars had them too. But, I did not cut off

^ Chef Dug, did u get the car brand new or it's used? A friend of mine don't have a cutoff cause the guy that had the car before got rid of the speed limiter. BUT he never go so fast, his car isn't able to handle this speed.

Oh hush everyone...people will drive fast whether you tell them to or not. It's not like he's asking how to bypass it.

Your limiter/fuel cut off is at 108

I hit 108 MPH in my 04 Cavi just to see what it is like. The car probably shouldn't go much faster. I did 132 MPH in my dads Vette and it felt like 80 MPH in my Cavi.

What about that rare condition where they are on a runway and the plane has landed but not slowed down enough for them to go slower than 110, and have no way of getting past the plane and no way of getting off of the runway, .. it would be nice not to have a speed limiter.

what if crazy rabid ninjas were running faster than your car's limiter and were all over your car and about to cut you open with chop sticks?

Deal with it. fuel cutoff for a cav is just like everyone has said 108 ish. Anyone who's been at that speed feels that the stock suspension and stock brakes are horrible for handling those speeds.

just don't drive that fast, nuff said.

what if you have been at those speeds, but you have better suspension and better brakes? lol, feels alot, no, ALOT different lol.....

still no need to go that fast anywhere other than an official 1/4 mile track, where you are trapping at speeds faster than 108 mph. anywhere other than that, there is zero need to go any faster than 80 mph.
