I'm interested in getting a set of springs to lower my 04 cav. I don't have a kit or anything, and would like to eliminate some wheel gap.
would this be something I could install myself? or is it something a little indepth, and would need a garage and a lift for?
I saw eibach, and know they are a reputable company. and then I saw MRC which give the same drop, but for 1/4th of the price.
does anyone suggest one over the other? and i could assume the ride will be pretty crappy unless I get a set of struts to go with them too huh?

i did mine my self ... MRC ? who are they ? go with eibach i did ... all you need are the proper tools ...
read the suspension faq's. mrc is probably crap springs. remember when you lower your car, its not just springs or coils you need, you need to buy new struts too. dont cheap out on your suspension
i bought my spring compressors for only ... ten bucks at a hardware store
If you're the least bit mechanically inclined, you should be able to do it yourself.
You'll need a torque wrench (maybe 2, depending on what you've got), spring compressors, a socket set, and potentially an impact wrench.
When you're done though, you still need to get an alignment. Can't do that yourself and can't just not do it.
Me and my freind's did mine last Saturday and was done in an hour and a half. I can tell you there's a good write up w/pic's in Suspension Faq,And an Impact wrench made the job twice as easy. But we did have to use an Tourqe wrench to get one of the bottom bolt's off the driver's side Strut. Other than that it was pretty simple.
NEVER use a torque wrench to loosen a bolt!!!!!!
They're for tightening to spec, and nothing else.
What you need is a johnson bar.

When I rented a spring compresser at Autozone I just went in and gave the guy 30 dollars. When I returned the tool they give you your 30 dollars back in full.
So it is free to rent.
yea you just put a down payment on it so if you dont come back, they keep the money. once you bring it back, you get your money back
