An introduction

Hey I just bought my first J-Body and I am having a good time with it. I had to do allot of work right away to get it running, since everyone before me abused it. I am abusing it but in a good way.(running all the carbon out of it) I will be doing some work in the future on it but for now I will be trying to just get all the trim pieces back in the interior and redoing the interior. The shade of blue it is now has to go.

So it is a 95’ Sunfire with 148k on it 2.2l with the dreaded 3spd auto. It is white with a two tone interior, blue/ gray. The body is in very good condition with two dents to speak of. One of the dents is the front passenger fender, where someone working on the engine before messed it up. The other looks like someone leaned against it on the rear pass quarter panel. I can fix the rear with removing the inside quarter panel and pushing it back out, the other is on top of the fender and you have to look for it to find it. I know this is not a good combination of engine/trans, but the ricers around town are already feeling the hurt of another j-body showing them who is boss.

So far to get it running I had to replace the head, shaved new one 10 thou. Did a valve job and put in a new timing chain. Sure wished I could have confirmed if a true roller timing chain would of fit. I had to replace the water pump and the radiator also. I am adding strut bars just to see if the darn things work. I plan on trying to get it to breathe better in the near future with both exhaust and intake mods. I know some of you think I am wasting my time with the 2.2 but I would like to try a few old school things on it to see what can be squeezed out of the engine. I will do another engine for it over the winter but in the mean time I will be collecting the parts for a 4spd auto swap. I want to try the old school new engine in the spring with the swapped trans. Hopefully it is a lot faster and the interior is done and I can move to the body work and paint job. I want to try an old school two tone with racing stripes. I like the electric blue, I think that is what they call it, stock color so much I will be adding it as the two tone. Once I determine that it is still to slow after all that I will look for a v6 to go in it. Ok if you have not gathered I am OLD SCHOOL. I guess owning a 78’ Firebird and a 81’ Trans-Am back in my prime didn’t do me any good.

I know most of you would suggest I sell and buy new, but so far I have around 1300 in a car that is in good shape and beating ricers. What more can you ask for?

Sounds like a decent daily driver...too bad it's 3 speed. Good luck with the car, if you have questions, just post.

Good platform to mod now a days. It didn't used to be when I first
started modding them. But now we have a lot of aftermarket support
thanks to some of the people here that have pioneer'ed for us. Just
look around & you should find some cool stuff for it now. & yeah, just
ask if you need some help.
