hey, i was attempting to change my oil and i couldn't get anything in to remove the oil drain plug. the socket wrench is too wide. i just bought a 15mm wrench but haven't tried with that yet. i'm hoping that the drain plug isn't too tight. anyone else have probs with this?
15mm is what my 2.4 and eco used, so its probably right for the 2.2, so just try that and see what happens

15 mm should work, remember to turn it left to loosen.

yea its 15mm. i do mine all the time. i just put a 15mm socket on the wrench and im good to go
yeah, the 15mm wrench worked, but it just kept spinnin...there's no room to get a socket wrench in there. any other suggestions on what to do? all i can think of is take it in and ask the techs to hand tighten the plug so i can do it next time...
locking pliers they wont strip it
If you cat get a socket wrench in there Jack up that side of the car a bit.

and just remember, there are no dumb questions. just dumb people.

jacking it up isn't helping...there's something directly behind the oil pan that is too close to get the socket wrench in there...unfortunately i don't yet know enough aboot cars to know what it is.
could it perhaps be the flux capacitor? rotflmao
...i'm joking. i know better than that atleast. =P
you should be able to get a socket on there, thats what i use. try getting a smaller socket or one thats just flat up top w/ just the end that swivles (sp?) if that makes any sense
ya, it makes sense. i've seen them....i just need the money to get one now...regardless, i need to get a new plug as well since the wrench was just spinnin on it anyway.
cant use a box-end or open-end wrench on there?
no, the end of the plug is just getting rounded off. (my bad for trying so damn hard...) don't know how the hell the dealer got it so damn tight in the first place. can't figure an impact wrench would actually fit in there either
i had the same problem. but i had a Fram Sure drain plug put in so i can drain the oil easier. all i do is screw off the cap, screw on a hose and let the oil drain out. might want to get one
