Does anyone know if i can do anything to my 1999 pontiac sunfire 2.2L w/o spending a whole lot of money, b/c i dont exactly have the money to blow on stuff like an injen or dragon intake or stuff like that...any ideas would help. Rather or not it will help performance or sound(under hood) would be great.

You can get a short ram from Gravana for about 75 bucks shipped. You can also get a cat-back done at a muffler shop for about 100 bucks (plus the cost of the muffler- around 70 bucks back when I did that on a different car of mine). Just a couple of things to get you started.

You have to remember, big money = big performance, cheap money = cheap performance. If you want good power you have to dish out a bit money. I know times are hard so you have to really just save up money...that's the best advice I can give any car modifier.

well just to tell you modding a car is a very expensive hobby. it all depends on how far you wanna take it. for an intake just get a cheap on off ebay for like 30 bucks. its all the same.

The reason I mentioned the one from Gravana, is that it replaces that stupid plastic box on the TB, which most of those on ebay do not, and those $30 intakes on ebay also charge $25 for shipping, so for a few more dollars you're dealing with a reputable company and getting a better product.

If I were to buy a honda civic air intake from autozone, would it sound loud if i just hook up the tubing to the stock air box. And i was wondering is their a silencer in my air intake if it is a 97 cav. And if so, how do i remove it. Thanks for your help.

You have to remember that the intake was made for a civic, so you have to alter it to make it fit properly.

You have resonators that act as a silencer. They are located in your wheel well/fender area. You have to either take the wheel off or jack/lift the car high enough where you can access the wheel well to remove it.

I feel you , i paid like 220 for my Weapon-R Secret Weapon ( best intake ive ever had ) , i had those crappy ebay intakes and one AEM. The SW is so much louder and nicer , just a better intake IMO.

But Micheal Rhodes, take out your intake bong located in the bottom left of your bumper.

Jack up car, turn wheel all the way to the right , undo all the fasteners on the wheel liner and undo the couple of the bolts. Not only do you have the benefit of more air, you have a free trophy. .

Re: STOCK MODS

take out the tuner tube... stock mod... zero dollars lol... remove the bong... zero dollars... both of which make it "louder" under the hood. take out the padding under the carpet for sound dampening... zero dollars... this will make the whole inside of the car "louder". and then theres ebay mufflers which are like 40 bucks then you get it welded on for 20 or so at the muffler shop if your lucky. Then the car will be really "loud".

Anyways, hope that helps some. Sorta being an ass with some of my smart comments. But um my best suggestion is if your serious about modding your ride, save the money and do it right the first time so that you dont have to do it again later on and waste money. And please dont buy ebay coilovers!
